Back to boot camp after missing the last two sessions.  It was hard.  I'm still not up to snuff physically, but it felt absolutely right.  Halfway into the second warm-up lap I got that running smile and realized that walking just is not enough for me.  I've been nothing but grouchy and stressed out the last couple of weeks.  Now I feel like myself again.  Welcome back, sane self.  We missed you.

Wow my shirt was a little sheer tonight

After Einat's "Street Jazz" at Lafayette, I walked over to Union Square to take Lillian's 8pm Hip-hop. The studio in this location is so not conducive for dance classes. Must we really need that wall/post in the middle of the room? I mean, it only probably supports the building's structure, but like I said, NOT CONDUCIVE FOR DANCING! Priorities, you know?

Regulars at this location will always go on the left side of that wall thingy for better mirror access. Even if I'm a regular myself, I go on the right side coz that's where the space is at! I don't know how these people can dance with like just a foot clearance from all sides. Lillian's choreography to Chris Brown's Famous Girl involved some kicking, traveling and turning. I don't know about y'all, but I would like to be able to move.

And move I did! This was my 2nd week with the choreography so I knew about 3/4 of routine by heart. Lillian added about 16 more counts tonight for the ending and it was just my style - GIRL HIP-HOP! It was so cute. She took a video of tonight's choreo, which she said she won't upload to YouTube. BAH. I wonder if I can get a copy anyway coz I barely have any clips of my dancing and I need it for my dance reel.

She said we're doing the same routine on Saturday then Tuesday next week. New routine on Wednesday, which I don't think I'll be in town for. Boo. I'll probably ask her to tape for me on Sat or Tues, when I have a shirt that offers more coverage even when I'm soaked with sweat.

It's really Contemporary, not Street Jazz

Einat, who usually teaches Antigravity Yoga at 38th St., subbed for Nadia's usual "Street Jazz" slot. I don't know if it's because of the holiday sched or the sub, but the class hasn't been horrendously packed like it usually is when Nadia's around. I kind of love it that there's a lot more space than I'm used to during this 6:30pm Wednesday dance class, but people still crowd too much in front!! (And I was already in the 4th row.) We did a bunch of kicks and turns and my hand still got slapped by someone's foot! Ridiculous.

Dance classes at Crunch make me forget that I'm taking a dance class at a GYM. Einat's routine earlier has got to be Adv. Beg/Intermediate-level Contemporary at either Peridance or BDC. I need to remember that not everyone in class is a dancer so I always have to remind myself to be patient. Einat really took the time to break down the steps to practically each person who asked for a clarification. It was so frustrating, personally, because I just wanted us to run the whole thing repeatedly. Basically, we weren't able to split into groups and really dance the choreo until 5 minutes before class was up. Even so, I was sweating like crazy 15 minutes into the class anyway so I can't complain... too much.

not my night

boy was i having a time of it tonight.

after a mere 2 laps i really thought i was gonna die!

sore arms and a late swim after a decently long day do not make for a good workout.

the sad part is that nina, my swim partner, was feeling the same way, so it was really difficult to motivate each other.

30 minutes. 21 laps. 1050m.

Todays workout was great!

I didn't do anything out of the ordinary but for some reason I left the gym feeling better than I usually do! I ran 4 miles on the treadmill and could have run longer, but I had to get to class. I like to give myself 10 minutes between a run and class so I cool down a little bit! I then went to burn and firm (I love the name of the classes) which is a total body conditioning class mixed in with cardio.  I take this class most Wednesdays and I always feel like she pushes us, but today I felt like she really really pushed us. When I was getting really tired my instructor had the best words to encourage us to keep going!  I walked out of class beyond exhausted and then met up with my girlfriends for ice-cream!  I felt slightly guilty going for ice-cream after working out so much, but figured I deserved it!

Super quick run

I went to the apt gym to run and ended up calling it quits after 3 miles. I wanted to run more, but my body was telling me that I was too tired to run. I actually listened to my body and stopped!  I stretched for a while after the run which felt great.

Yoga class today.  The room was pretty warm, and I was literally dripping in sweat.  All over.  There's no point fighting it.  It's 90 something degrees, it's inevitable.  Screw bikram, I bring the sweat anyway.

I wimped out this morning

and only did 20 minutes of a 50 minute yoga practice.  Oh well, I was listening to my body and my body was telling me to stop so I listened.  Tomorrow I will try for some cardio instead.

kicked out of spin!! (my fault)

DOH. Wednesday night spin is always empty. Like half empty. So I rarely sign up in advance. But tonight there was this strange force that apparently brought tons of people in. I was 15 minutes early and "my" bike was taken. That's cool, I'm laid back...so I got on another and was warming up, watching the class fill up and fill up and then I started to get nervous. Long story short, there was one extra person so they asked who didn't sign up and I sheepishly raised my hand and then was forced to slink out past all my fellow regulars. The teacher knows me so he kind of made fun of me, and both women next to me assured me I'd get karma points. The best part was that the girl I "gave" my bike to was a first-timer who I helped set up five minutes earlier until *she* got kicked off her bike. She was apologetic. 

Lesson learned (again--I've done this once before). That said, I was so annoyed at myself that I took a brisk 20-minute walk home instead of actually working out. But I'm calling that a workout. And am drinking wine and watching TV instead. I like wine.

Dehydration is not my friend.

Did an even paced run. Planning to do my hard run tomorrow morning before Muay Thai class. Yoga was awesome as usual. Sauna after.

Feeling really dehydrated today. Been busy running around and not drinking water. :(

Zumba Bracelets and Lemon in My Water for the Gym

Thoughts:
Really fun Zumba class tonight!  The instructor really injects energy into the entire room.  Tonight, she brought fluorescent colored Zumba bracelets for everyone after class.  The only area of potential improvement is that I wish there was more belly dance type music like last week.  For whatever reason, I really get into it.  I love that an entire hour of Zumba really flies by.  The same time spent on a cardio machine by myself would probably feel twice as long.  Also, I added a few tiny slices of lemon to my water for the gym - YUM!  This may be a recurring theme.

BAH, HUMBUG!

So, my triumphant return-to-running workout on the 22nd?

Hurt my knee. Have not been able to do anything since.

Yea, verily doth this suck!

However, today I did a weightlifting blast, half an hour of low weight, lots of reps, no rest between sets. Did some one-legged push-ups, too. I am determined to get back to it.

A workout buddy suggested running in the pool ... might have to try that until the knee is better.
