Workout
the only thing missing was a velvet rope.
Today's workout was epic. I mean, it was a over-the-top, really-only-ok-once-in-a-while, manic sweatfest. Oh my god...it was also delicious.
I started with a twenty minute treadmill warm-up run on a 3% incline and then joined Trainer Mike for our session. We boxed for most of the session but in between rounds we did push-ups and one-legged TRX thrust-ups. We did walking lunges, lunge jumps and squat jumps. We did box jumps and step-ups and more thrust-ups. The movements were quick and explosive, and the boxing became fluid and focused.
Towards the end of the session, my legs already shaking and my arms so exhausted they felt pleasantly relaxed, one of the group fitness instructors walked into the PT area. She was clearly looking for me, and turning to Trainer Mike she just asked: "Are you almost done with her?" After his confirmation she tells me to join her spin class. I waiver. I'm tired. But, when she leaves and I tell Mike I didn't think I'd go, he says I "have" to. Afterall, she specifically came for me. We joke about how VIP I must be to have group fitness instructors pursuing me! So VIP they should have a back entrance and a velvet rope! ;-)
Anyways...I had been wanting to take her class. I am about to leave for 4 months. I did have a newly arrived order of powergels in my locker in anticipation of my ever-lengthening long runs. Fine. Spin it was. It turned out shed already put me on the list too.
After a gel and despite discovering that I only had my vibrams with me (uhm...yes, I did spin in Vibrams), I set up my bike. It was such a familiar movement and almost automatically my hands twisted and turned the knobs to my preferred settings. The class was AMAZING. Many of you know I'm a spin snob, which is actually why I haven't been to a class in over half a year - all my favorite instructors had left! But, Deanne reminded me of what it feels like to look yourself in the eyes and pump your burning legs to the music, to feel droplets of sweat drip down your arms and legs as you watch, in amazement, how a small puddle forms under your bike. My heart was pumping. The endorphines were raging. And, I couldn't help but smile for the entire class. Wow.
daily total:
20 minute commute
45 minute walk at lunch
20 minute treadmill warm-up
60 minutes trainer mike
45 minutes spin
20 minutes home

I haven't been to spin in forever. I think you may have just inspired me to get back to class. =)

Your workouts sound awesome!
So, curiously, how/why did she come to ask for you specifically?
