Is it Lame That I Spent My Birthday Working Out?

Exercise and healthy eating on your birthday?! D'OH!!!

Yesterday was my 33rd birthday.  Since all my closest friends seem to hate each other at the moment, I decided I'd rather spend it alone than to try to get people  who are currently at odds with each other together for drinks or whatnot and have to deal with all that stress and tension.

So rather than going out on the town (And let's face it; who wants to go out on a Wednesday night anyway?), I decided to throw myself full force into working out.  Yesterday morning started out with an hour of P90X:  Shoulders & Arms (I think it's finally starting to work, btw.  I was getting worried that up until 2 days ago, I hadn't lost any weight.) before work.  I went walking on my breaks for a total of 30 minutes in 90+ degree heat.  Then after work I did an hour of hot yoga at the Y followed by an hour of soccer.  All in all, it was pretty intense, but it was good.  Then I went home, ate some grilled chicken and watched a couple of episodes of Dexter:  Season 1 on Netflix Instant Queue.  :o)

Also, I'm really proud of myself for only eating one of the cupcakes that my supervisor brought in to work for my birthday.

On another P90X note, I've got a little over a week to go before my first month is done on the program.  I can't believe it, but I've actually gotten so into the habit of getting up before 6 a.m. to work out before getting ready for work that it felt really weird for me to allow myself to sleep in until 7 this morning even though I didn't get to bed until well after midnight last night.

I heard birthday cupcakes don't have calories. So you should eat another today if you want. Also, I am all about being selfish on birthdays so I don't think it is lame you did exactly what you wanted to do. I hope you enjoyed it. Happy late bday.

liz is right about birthday cupcakes.  They are a negative entity, as there is magic in birthdays.

Also, for years my bday ritual was make breakfast, go to book store, come home, sit in sunny spot and read all day.  So no, you're not lame.  You're awesome possum.

Better to do what you want than try to work out someone else's drama on your birthday.

Good job on the cupcakes.  I have doubts about this birthday-magic business.  But then my annual birthday present to myself is a large order of Chinese food, so maybe there's something there.

And hey, happy birthday!

I think an endorphin-filled birthday is an awesome present to yourself.  No need to wrestle with other people's personalities & proclivities.  Looks like you had a great one!

Happy birthday!  I think it's awesome that you did what you wanted to do, and did something that made you feel good physically and mentally... right on!

Thanks ya'll!  I appreciate it.

Not gonna lie; I may or may not have had some cake and ice cream last night that a (non-bickering) friend of mine made for me so I haven't been completely good eating-wise, but I've not been horrible either.  :o)

Matty, it sounds like you need to point out to your friends how much you're working out, and how you can kick their asses if they don't get it together and stop bickering.

Sometimes working out has multiple uses, yeah?
