Workout
I'm Pretty Sure "X-TREME!!!" Products Went Out at the End of the Last Century, but I'll Give This a Shot Anway.

- This is not the Horton you are looking for.
So I worked out like, a lot yesterday. 3 and 1/2 hours spread out over the course of the day. An hour of P90X in the morning before work, 30 minutes of walking around my office building on my morning and afternoon breaks, 30 minutes of intervals at the gym after work and 90 minutes of hot yoga after the intervals.
And yes, I've jumped on the P90X bandwagon. Yesterday was Day 1: Chest & Back. It went pretty well. I was a little bit apprehensive after a few of my friends who have tried it kept telling me that it was super intense and that they couldn't even get through the entire chest and back workout the first time they did it. I'm guessing they hadn't been working out at all prior to beginning the program though because I didn't really have any problems with it. Don't get me wrong, it was a really good workout and it definitely kept my heartrate up the whole time, but I wasn't dying at the end of it.
Anyway, the chest and back workout involved a lot of push-ups and pull-ups mostly, with a couple of weight exercises thrown in for good measure. My pull-up count was a bit on the pathetic side, but I did like the video instructed and pumped out as many as I could which was like, 3 on my first round. That number will get better though as the weeks go by. However, I can do push-ups all day and did 275 of them of several different varieties over the course of the hour long DVD. Overall, the pacing of the video was good; it didn't seem to have the mindset that if you can breathe normally, you're not working hard enough like a lot of exercise videos I've seen do. There were plenty of short 30 second water/towel breaks sprinkled throughout the DVD, but just long enough to catch your breath without your heartrate dropping too much. My heartrate monitor said that I stayed right around 150 bpm for the full hour with jumps into the 170s during the exercises. At the end of it, I had a nice little endorphin rush and my chest and back had a lovely little soreness, but I feel pretty good this morning and not any sorer than usual.
This morning I managed to get up early again (my plan is to do P90X in the mornings for the next 3 months, but keep up my 2 to 3 times a week yoga regimen at night as well as some interval training) to do Day 2: Plyometrics, but my DVD player decided that it no longer wanted to show me movies after 8 years of being together so I'm going to go buy a cheapy $25-35 model after work and hopefully do the workout tonight. I'll let ya'll know how it goes tomorrow.
Overall I'm liking P90X so far, but check back with me in a week or two. :o)
