disturbing overheard - well - said to me - am I over reacting?
My Sunday morning step class instructor has been taking one of my yoga classes the last few weeks. Until today he was right up front. Today when I got there he was set up next to the corner where I usually go. We chatted a bit about his class, silly neighborhood stuff...then class started and we yogaed for 75 minutes...then at the end of class he asked me out. Yes, my step instructor asked me out. This is not something I was expecting AT ALL (I actually thought he was gay) and am not excited about. I was so taken aback I stammered something non committal then said I had to scoot off to get to pilates.
This is not really overheard, but it is freaking me out and I don't want to go to step class any more and I don't really know how to gracefully say not interested and this seems really inappropriate.
People help - am I overreacting?

that kind of stuff doesn't happen at Crunch. You never see say a guy in membership making the moves on...Uhm...Nevermind.
Just drop it why lose a good step instructor over it. Just be polite and direct and tell him that you would rather keep it professional.

That is my plan (what else can I do?) I'm just annoyed that I'm in this situation. The whole thing really caught me off guard.

Very awkward indeed!

I had a similar situation...just laugh it off, say you have a boyfriend - but keep it light-hearted and non-awkward and stay friendl. Don't skip out on class - just wave it off - like it was a joke...

Agh! Kind of a nightmare. You are not overreacting at all! I agree and think honesty is best, though if I were in your shoes I'd probably laugh awkwardly and say something dumb and then try to pretend it never happened. Kind of my recurring general life strategy, ha.

Tell him you only date spin instructors?

HA! that's the ticket. Too bad the spin instructor blew me off...

I will come to Philly and kick him someplace hurtful, then I will eat cheesesteaks. Or pretzels. I'm down with either.
