Workout
95 degrees and my new motivation... Misters in the park across the street from my house.

- Ft. Greene Park (via humain)
In which this week's Featured Body, Llaves, hits the park and discovers a giant water pipe spewing delightful cooling mist....
Today was annoying at work. General annoying things but annoying none the less. So around 5:30 I ran out so I could at least get a little sun. I hadn't left the office since I had gotten there at 8:30 so to my surprise, it was HOT!
Once in Brooklyn I got off the subway and it was like walking into a sauna. I was going to just head straight to the Fort Greene Crunch, but then I realized when I was in the shade, it was pretty pleasant.... and good an sweaty. So I headed home, tossed on my favorite new shorts (the workout ones with the underwear attached), drank some emergen-C and hit the road. When I walked out of my house there was this little girl soaking wet standing outside, she looked at me and said "the parks wet" and I got really excited when I looked across the street to see that there are giant water pipe structure spewing cool mists! All the more motivation I needed to keep running in 95 degrees.
So I ran around Fort Greene Park once and then ran to the Crunch. I made it all the way too... and boy was I sweaty. I got a water and did 30 leg pull up hangy things, 30 push ups, 30 reverse push ups, 30 sliding lunges with a 10 pound, 30 T-bars with a 7.5.
Then I headed back home, ran a few blocks, walked a few blocks, but definitely did a run through the park (not around). Once home, cooked me some mad Quinoa with tomato, mushroom, onions, garlic and tofu.
Watched me some Glee, "you look terrible, I look awesome," while doing sun salutations and mad stretching.
Now, back to work... BOO!
Oh, wait, one last moment... I witnessed the coolest class EVER at the FG Crunch.. AntiGravity® Yoga ‘Wings’ : Stretch further and hold
challenging postures longer using a flowing fabric hammock as
your only prop. With the fabric as a soft trapeze, you’ll learn
simple suspension techniques to move into seemingly
impossible inverted poses to relieve compressed joints and
align the body from head to toe.
Who's down??? It may just fulfill my dreams of someday doing silks!!!!

I've taken that class! It's a lot of fun, but be careful if you're clumsy like me. I got tangled up at first and fell out of my hammock. Once you get situated, it's really awesome!

I take that class at Fort Greene on Sundays (sometimes). It's awesome!

You NEEEEED to try it. I haven't been back in a few months, but there was a stretch when I went at least once a week. Hanging upside down is amazing. Do it.

I can't say anything about the class, but I'd like to go on record saying that Fort Greene Park is my favorite park. It's small (so maybe not best for longer runs) but is so diverse in its terrain and its people and I love all the nooks and crannies. Much like the neighborhood in general I suppose.

Oh_totally... totally!! I love living in FG, I can have my nooks and cranny run then when I want to run for long distances, I just head over the bridge!
And I think I am going to go to Anti-Gravity next Wednesday, it's not on the weekends since the schedules all short for the holiday... anyone want to join me? Maybe after we could head over to Habana and munch on some corn?

the class is great. won't fulfill your aerial silks dream, but instead of normal savasana, you get to cocoon in the hammock.
phenomenal.
