A storm descended upon the Ragnar Relay...

Our hosts Trey and Kyle explained the rules of the race.  184 miles of relay running through the Hudson Valley to Dobbs Ferry.

Upon our first meeting Thursday night we were assembled very similarly to Agatha Christie's Ten Little Indians.  24 near strangers from different parts of the USA called to a house for a common goal.  I make this comparison no one was there due to a direct connection.  We weren't 24 friends who decided to run a race.  We were 24 people who wanted to run a race and heard about from a friend who knew someone who was running the race.   After the meeting those of us who were staying at Trey and Kyles settled down early since we had to be up at 4:30 to leave for our destination.

I think that MSH258 will be putting together a detailed post.  I just want to say that the Ragnar Relay is probably one of the coolest things I have ever done.  For a bunch of near strangers both teams Thunder and Lightning worked with amazing efficiency.  We enjoyed friendly competition between the two teams.    We cheered on everyone we came across.  Made friends on the road.  We helped people who were lost or needed medical attention (band aids and body glide).  Everyone was generous, friendly, helpful and supportive.   In the end when Thunder crossed the finish line 31 hours later (Lightning finished in 29 hours) we rushed in Black and Red shirts together.  Swaying and Chanting "LIGHTNING STRIKES THUNDER BOOMS!"  Everyone was tired, everyone was sore, EVERYONE was smiling.  We were all champions.  Kurt Angle the pro wrestler who won olympic gold would ask his WWE opponents "Where are your gold medals?"  Well Kurt mine is around my neck and I can open a beer with it.  Meet my 23 friends who helped me earn it.

This race will always be legendary.  To Thunder and Lightning  I would do it again with you all in a second.  To MSH258, you were assigned the longest runs in our van and you triumphed over all three of them.  I am proud to call you my girlfriend.
