Workout

Ken Moody is retiring!

That's Kenny on the left.

I almost didn't go to the gym today. Eventually I decided I haven't been making enough of an effort, and apparently something is in retrograde, so I dragged myself to Kenny's 1215 Ride class. At which he announced that he would be retiring from fitness. FAIL.

Kenny's been an instructor in fitness for about thirty years, and he's the reason I got the hang of spinning. He's an inviting and lighthearted instructor that makes everyone feel comfortable. He endeared himself to me when he started by talking about form form form (which I desperately needed advice on) and sweet potato pie (It was Thanksgiving. And as someone who watches the Food Network when she is on a treadmill, this is totally normal.) I wouldn't have been able to stick it out without his enthusiasm and guidance. He's made no secret about being diabetic and having had complications lately, so I suppose this was coming, but it still sucks. His last classes will be on the week ending June 5. So for anyone who wanted to try spinning but was intimidated. get to it. You'll probably never have a better or more gentle guide into the exercise.

Needless to say I busted my ass today. I'm gonna get in as much Kenny time as I can before he goes.
