Feral Finish

- Mud, grass, and bare feet - the way it was meant to be
After my twentieth two-minute set of jump rope between weights this morning, I was starting to think that my finale was not very feralicious. Just because the weather in Brooklyn was getting me down was no reason I should be bored silly by repeatedly hopping over a rope in the empty yoga studio at Crunch while staring at myself bouncing in the mirror.
So I decided that a fitting finish would involve stripping off the shoes with which modern society binds me and running a mile and a half through the rainy streets and muddy fields of Prospect Park to the picnic house and back, scaring ducks and pigeons and confusing little girls along the way.
On my return I had the following awkward encounter in the service elevator:
Woman: so let me get this straight... you went running barefoot in the park in the rain?
Me: sure, there's no other way to do it!
Man: aren't you afraid you'll step in glass on the street?
Me: well the way I see it, I could step on a nail and then it wouldn't matter if I had shoes on or not. Or I could get hit by a bus. Anything could happen! Can't be afraid to go outside.
Elevator: *ding*
Me: well, this is my floor. Have a good day!
Man and Woman: Uh... have a good day.
