i'm always so impressed with your interval routines. do you use a podcast or training schedule? i'm so new with this...

i'm sorry to hear about your shin splints! they definitely suck.  hang in there!

hey twinklefee - i just make them up, and create patterns.  the workout above is my 3-2 minute split (i made that title up).  i think the more frequent the speed changes, the better.  unfortunately there is only 1 treadmill at my gym that has an interval setting, otherwise, i think the best interval workout is to do one minute at a really challenging speed, and the next at a fast walking speed and switch back and forth for the most body shocking interval workout.  it really helps with the whole treadmill being so boring issue i usually have.  also, added bonus - i've become a much better runner in terms of speed i think.  6.0 used to be a "challenge" speed for me, but now it seems like a easier speed.

hopefully the shin splints go away, and i get remotivated!!

What have you been doing for the shin splints? Have you been icing at all? Considered buying new shoes? Try taking your run off the treadmill - that may help, too.

i've been trying to stretch a little differently - haven't iced yet.  they only hurt when i'm actually running.  i got these shoes at the end of november, so i don't think it's the shoes.  you're right on the taking the run off the treadmill thing - i'm still a bit self conscious for that to happen, but am going to attempt it at some point.  i think i might switch to the elliptical for awhile if this doesn't get better.
