My Life on Two Wheels : Week 1

- The sky from my bike
I never realized how awesome it is to ride a bike. To get from one place to another without using a car. Feeling the air flow through your hair, and the sun on your face. This first week of being back on a bike made me so excited, happy and optimistic about what is to come with my life on two wheels.
Riding the 5.5 miles to work yesterday after Crossfit, I am able to use this time for "ME" time. Decompress and enjoy the day, waking up by engaging my body and brain. You always gotta stay alert and ready to go while riding, so it's prepping me for my day of decisions.
Riding the 5.5 miles home yesterday, I caught my first peloton. The sun was setting every so slowly, the magic hour was upon us. At a light on Venice, two guys my age pulled up next to me. One was a fixie, one was a single speed like me. Green light and they race off...I sprint as fast as I can to catch up, and engage in the three-man draft. That was such an empowering feeling, as I know the eyes of the drivers were on us zipping past them (Stuck in traffic), looking cool, using our muscles.
Then on the final mile back to my house, on the side streets of Hollywood, I glanced up at the sky. It was beautiful. I peddled slowly to take it all in and suck some deep breaths of air. If I were in a car, my roof would block the view of this sky.
I'm thankful for having the courage to get back on the bike. I'm fortunate that I have two strong legs that can take and deliver me places around the city. I'm happy to have found a new passion.
