Workout

Run.

It wasn't pretty today. Took like 20 snoozes and physically throwing myself outta bed. 28 degrees. But got out there. And thank goodness I did. 4 miles. Brooklyn and back over the Billyburg Bridge.

What do you do for winter bundling up? I run along the Hudson and haven't been able to take the cold for weeks...can't even imagine a bridge.

i used to run the brooklyn bridge which was BRUTAL. but somehow, the williamsburg bridge isn't all that windy (or maybe i'm just totally too layered to notice). i'm from North Carolina and even though i've lived up north for 10 years (eek!) i STILL get so cold. so don't laugh when i describe EVERYTHING i wear.

1) two pairs of running pants - not sweats, but actual stretchy, high-tek warm running pants. that's one pair of tights and one looser bootcut-ish ones over, but both made out of cold weather running material. tights are from lulu and pants are just some general running brand - not sure.

2) tank, long sleeve winter running shirt UNDER a zippy (also running material) - long sleeve was some asics running shirt i bought for a race and zippy is either a long lululemon one or i have nike ones i like - with hoods!!

3) fleece ear band warmer (sometimes a full on tabagon)

4) gloves - not running gloves, just regular ones - with flaps that expose the fingers - my hands can get really hot and sometimes i just tuck my hands into sleeves or have those running shirts with thumb holes which are perfection.

yes i look hilarious when i run. but i stay warm!! obviously you warm up once you start going, but i hate being cold, so i rather have too many layers on than too few.

it is SOOOO hard to get out there in the winter. i haven't been running more than once or twice outside in the mornings a week. i feel like anything over 32 i can handle, but when it's in the 20s...ugh. once you get out there though you're totally over the hump. in the meantime, hot yoga, pilates, etc are such great ways to keep motivated, but INDOORS!! happy running!!

Thanks! That actually sounds like a reasonable amount of clothing, considering how cold it has been!
