Workout
working on the arms
So I am quickly approaching my one year anniversary of a membership at Crunch and ready to head on to the 2nd year! I have to say that I am so happy that I joined and finally have been able to give myself a regular work out routine (at least twice a week) over the entire year, where as before this I never though I would be one of those people who could maintain a gym membership and not waste it. Thank you Crunch!
Heading into the new year, my new mini goal is to work on my arms (and legs, sort of, but arms first). I am a dedicated loyal to the pole dancing classes at Crunch but I've defintely developed some bulkiness in the limbs - to the point I feel like I am losing circulation wearing a short sleeved shirt. Not cool at all. To top it off I am a short girl (4'11") so most clothes already don't exactly fit in proportion to my body. My calves get stuck at the part where the knee hits when I try on jeans. Forget trying to wear boots that are not loose and slouchy, I might as well cut off my foot. It's not really a self-conscious image issue, I actually am loving my curvier body these days (and so do the males in my life, but that's a different story...) - but more that I don't want to deal with buying a new wardrobe and have to look for clothes that fit this extra bulk!
So the goal is to focus more on workouts that help stretch and tone these new muscles - I'm thinking a 2:1 ratio of yoga and pilates to my once a week of pole dancing, and eventually get that to 3:1. So the first class of 2010 was Vinyasa yoga @ Crunch with Aisha on John St...for a minute vinyasa was getting boring to me but I haven't done it in a good month or so so today was kind of killing me with some of the really typical stretches.
