First Day Back at Vira
It had been a long time, and my body felt then worse even than it feels now. Vira was quiet -- just four of us, and Geoffrey Devaul turned out to be very good, despite at first seeming unlikely. He's a big guy, with a baby face; you might imagine him at an artsy Southern frat if such a thing exists. I mean, he looks like a football player almost, but it slowly becomes clear that he's incredibly nice; and that he has the yoga practice of a 22 year old girl. Which is to say, he can move his pelvis in and out while in handstand. I was a wreck to begin with, and my mind wired up to the top, but thankfully the class was relaxing; not too hard, but satisfying. And when it was over I felt a deep sigh. September was a disaster for exercise, and my body.
After, I struck up a conversation with Geoffrey who happens to be married to one of the co-founders of Vira; and while we were chatting one of the the other guys in the class joined us and began talking about the wonders of pranic healing. He talked about how he could energetically "clear" foods. Once the bad energy was removed, the food tasted MUCH better. He said he could tell, just based on the pranic energy surrounding a fruit or vegetable, whether it was organic or commercially raised. I gave him a flyer to Eat.Sweat.Blog. There we were, three tall men, talkinga about pranic energy, yoga, and Internet fitness challenges. In Soho....
