waving goodbye
I am afraid I am a collateral damage victim of 2.0.
I am just an old dog who tried to learn the new tricks and couldn't. I don't have time to work on it any more, nor the inclination to be further frustrated.

hip not hooray
When I first got up this morning I said NO WAY. I just wanted to crawl back into bed. I miss the times when I used to sleep for days after a long trip. It was an effort, but I talked myself into walking, and my hip hurt just like it did before I left for Paris, ugh! 54 minutes
Workout
back again
I got back from Paris yesterday in the wee hours and surely would have loved to sleep all day, but the two year old is in residence so I had to be up and at it. Exercising had to be sacrificed, sad to say. I did no formal workout during the week in Paris, but I walked all over the place. My feet screamed at me every evening. I remember one day after climing up and down t
Workout
well hello, Orion
I did the walk in just under 55 minutes, not a very good time. My hip was killing me the whole way. This does not bode well for Paris. Thankfully, my iPod lasted until I got home before it ran out of juice. But now I can get it charged for the long flight over.
Workout
first walk since the blister walk three weeks ago
The two year old is in residence, so I had to get up at 5am to have any prayer of working out. I decided to walk to rev up those muscles for walking all over Paris next week. I haven't walked in so long but it felt great and the weather was awesome this morning. I forgot how much I like seeing the stars when I walk. There was Orion standing proudly as I began. 53 m

Me five. That is why I left it all. But I do come back to lurk on 1.0 every once and a while in order to be motivated.

What a great way of thinking of different forms of yoga. I don't even know most forms of yoga, but I started with Vinyasa or flow yoga and I do look at it as a workout and not a practice. Then I started taking a class once a week (when I am in town) of Iyengar yoga. They look like the same animal but they are not. The poses are the same but in my Iyengar practice everything is held longer and we build up to poses more. It is also much more spiritual. I have a Kundalini yoga dvd and the poses there are totally different and involve much movement. They also don't use a sticky mat. I am not even sure how to think of that form of yoga.

Haha! The crab must have been disoriented from Earl. Great story.

I didn't go anywhere exotic, if that is what you are thinking. I just went to Kansas to celebrate my sister's birthday with her. But my next trip later this month is to Paris and I am stoked about that.

Okay. So, what kind of running shoes do you have?

Yay for getting back into action. Sometimes when you so manual labor like you are doing now, it makes another form of exercise feel better to your body. So, any races in your future?

Yay, a goal! That is just what I need. The MMM has not inspired a goal for me; I think that merely spending more time working out is not meaningful. After briefly looking at the site you shared, I can see a goal in the making. When I can look at it without a two year old tugging on my mouse arm, I will study it further. Also, since I cannot even do a single pull-up, I will investigate that as well.

I'm with you on prefering to work out by myself. But, it is rare and wonderful to find a workout partner who is at about the same level and can push you to do more.

A yoga retreat or weekend getaway sound great. I think, as far as food is concerned, that I choose healthy most of the time. My problem is more with portion control. I am going to work on getting more focused.

I don't think I will be leaving my iPod behind anytime soon, but I do enjoy the part of running (or, in my case power walking) where you get lost inside your head and your thoughts and become present somewhere else.

Erikka, I had a similar experience but in a much better way. My instructor pushed down on me in some position because I was way up in the air instead of down on my heels like I was supposed to be. Unfortunately, my body doesn't do that, at least not yet....I'm working on it. I cried out, "aaaaaaaaaaiiiiiiiiiiiihhhhhhhhhhh!" Lucky for me, she stopped immediately. After class she came up to me to talk about it, wanting to make sure I was okay, and I said I was. She was happy about that and mentioned that she thought that might be the case since I laughed afterward.

I'm glad it got better for you. I guess that means you are on the other side of that fence now.

How disappointing to go to a boot camp and not be challenged. I hope it gets better for you.

You have a point there about it being, at least partly, in my head. I noticed this morning that the pain was making me tense and preventing me from going down into the pose, so I concentrated on relaxing and it helped. I did not get much farther, but it helped. Baby steps.
