MAJOR Life Update (aka the Reason I Haven't Posted in Forever) - moving to Africa!
I haven't posted in forever. There is a good reason I swear. Actually, lots of them. But I promise, I have been working out harder than ever, especially since I've had to be really creative due to this knee injury. And I have most certainly done my 50+ workouts - not sure what I'm up to though, since I stopped counting after 50. I've also de-feated 22 feats!
Knee injury threatening to sideline me. HELP!!
I have had knee problems for over half my life. When I was 12, I tried to get up from a cross-legged position without using my hands. There was a loud rip and lots of pain, followed by about 6 weeks on crutches and 5 years of pretty intense pain.
Workout
Pigeon pose + injured knee = :'(
Yesterday I went to my friend's photo gallery exhibit, so I went to the 9pm Yoga To The People class. It was candlelit and beautiful. And hot and sweaty.

Rain, rain, go away!
Wednesday was another monsoon day, so even though Footy was still going on in the rain, I used some common sense (for once!) and decided it wasn't a good idea. All I needed was to slip on the wet turf, and hurt my already injured knee some more. And it's in LIC, right behind the big Pepsi sign. With all the lightning, that's just asking for trouble.

Monday's Gym Attempt: FAIL
Monday, PunkRope was cancelled last-minute. Sadness. I went to the gym to lift weights, and I found out why... The Y was shut down due to all the construction. Bummer. Because I had had a pretty annoying day, and I wanted to get that aggression out and some endorphins in.
Fortunately, my roommate was around and went on a 3-mile walk with me, allowing me to vent.
About what? Example...

If running in the rain were a class, I'd take it!
Last Sunday was pretty spectacular. I started with a nice 3-mile walk through the swampland that has become Manhattan, grabbed my stuff, and headed down to Coney Island for the Sunday Summer PunkRope classes at Dreamland roller rink.

Punk Rope - Tim Haft

Confession: I'm an endorphin addict...
I have a confession: I am addicted to endorphins. Even after a late night of partying, I'm crazy enough to get up for a weekend 10am yoga class (I cannot tell you the number of times I have gone drunk or hungover). And like any other endorphin addict, I was invited to Long Beach for the day, but went out later than everyone else so that I could get in my morning workout.
Place:
YMCA - 14th Street

Work Anger = Aggressive Footy Game!
Went to go see Harry Potter last Thursday, so my normal Yoga class was a no-go, but it was probably a good thing so that I could rest up for my Footy game on Friday, as part of the NYCAFL series.

I did yoga with 65 people on top of me
Last Wednesday, I decided to go to yoga instead of Footy. Me miss Footy practice???? shocking, I know.
But my back was really hurting, and that's when I need yoga the most.
Went to Yoga to the People on a sweltering day, and needless to say it was incredibly hot inside --- made even hotter by the 65 people (yes you read that right - I counted) that were just inside my small classroom!!

#1 of catching up on many, many posts
Oooooooh my goodness. SO many posts to catch up on - 6 to be exact. I've been super busy at work - and working out - so have had no time.
I'll try to catch up over today, although that may be ambitious. Def wanna finish it before the end of the month, so I can get my final workout count for the month ;)
Ok, so quickly.

Let me know if you hear of anything in Africa or the Middle East. Unfortunately I'll just miss the Morocco retreat. My travels begin mid-November!
Also, I'm assuming the Puerto Rico event is in 2010, not 2009?

Wow. Well fotobliss, looks like you successfully pissed off quite a few people on here as well! Not sure how you can justify defending someone from "slander" (which is an opinion, mind you - this is a blog!), while at the same time completely disrespecting the author. I recommend that the next time you want to defend someone, you do so in a much nicer tone. Then people might actually be willing to listen to what you have to say.

Thanks Sass! I would love to connect with your friend in Ethiopia! Shall I send you my email?
And omg CJ!! I'm so sorry I was MIA. You should most definitely join us for Footy! We have practice tomorrow (Wednesday) 6-8pm in Long Island City: Queens West Sportsfield at 445 47th Rd, LIC Queens. If you can't make it on time, definitely still come as people drift in when they can. I'm gonna be there tomorrow and try to have a kick (depending on how my knee is feeling). We also usually have practices on Saturdays, but will be down in Baltimore this weekend for a game. Check out www.nyfooty.com for more info, and to contact our recruiters.
You guys rock my world!

Does this have to be in one sitting? Or can we do it over time? Due to some upcoming, and very sudden, changes, I have been repeating a mantra over and over again... all day, and especially when commuting: "I have no idea where my future will lead me, but I can't wait to find out."
I've been chanting that for about 3 weeks now. So if it can be done over time, then most certainly feat accompli!

Ugh, that's the worse! Never good when you can still feel last night's dinner, especially when it was icky food.
Sounds kinda like my night, except it was lots of tostitos lime chips and lots of alcohol. Ugh
And I haven't even attempted to work it off yet.

Thanks peeps!
H2Ownage- my roommate also mentioned that swimming block thingy (she called it a "pool buoy" and I kept thinking she was telling me to put a "pool boy" between my legs. yeah that would be a much more interesting workout...) I think I will give that a shot tomorrow and see how it goes.
Bikes are pretty hard on my knee. I absolutely love my new bike, but my 60-mile bike ride the other day was the reason my knee got a little iffy in the first place :(
Sandyliz- Playground aerobics is a great idea! I will have to hit up East River Park.
Erikka- Rice? Like, rice rice? And are you still finding mud all over yourself and clothes from APW? It seriously won't come off!!
Thanks, you guys rock :)

When I'm that ravenously hungry, especially when it's out of character, it's usually one of three things: 1. I worked out super duper hard the day before and didn't eat enough 2. My blood sugar is going psycho 3. My body isn't getting something it needs.
Addressing #2: My blood sugar is a roller coaster, so I've had to change not just what I eat, but when I eat it and with what. Different combinations of food make your body react in certain ways. Natalia Rose's "The Raw Food Detox Diet" has change my life... I recommend it.
Addressing #3: At one point, I was working out super hard but ridiculously ravenous. I would eat a huge meal, but then 1 hour later I could eat a small horse. It was a problem. I saw my naturopathic doctor, and she said that my body was craving a little bit of red meat (I only eat fish and chicken). Grudgingly, I gave it a shot. And miracle, it took care of the problem sooooo fast. So now when I get like that, I have to figure out what my body needs, and it's like magic.
Hope that helps :)
