What happened to the "R?"
Went to S.T.A.R. treatment today at Crunch, which, for the unfamiliar, is a 60-minute whirlwind of Spin, Toning, Abs and Relaxation. Today's class got started a few minutes late, and guess which part of the acronym mysteriously vanished?

Stay on your side!
Does anyone remember that old Animaniacs episode where the Doctor goes out to a drive-in movie and his large & very Germanic date keeps shouting "STAY ON YOUR SIDE!" . . . No? Well, I do. It was hilarious. But I digress.

Rolling Along . . .
I went to my first spin class in about four years today. It was also probably my third spon class ever, the reason being that I tend to avoid spin like the plague, because the thought of being chained (metaphorically, but still) to a bike for 45+ minutes of quad-burning hell sounds like about as much fun as, well, being chained to a bike for 45+ minutes of quad-burning hell.

love challenge recap: love soul
Okay. Maybe eating a giant piece of cake with a friend doesn't seem like a very spiritual activity. But you know what—I'm counting it.
love challenge recap: love mind
Despite all sorts of sensible ways that I should be spending (or, more accurately, *not* spending) money, when I received an email for tickets to a taping Inside the Actors Studio with James Cameron, I didn't think twice about shelling out for the tickets.
love challenge recap: love belly
"Whatever you do, do something that differs from your normal routine, that takes you out of your comfort zone."
I would say that my first-ever experience with dim sum (really? how have I never done this before?) fulfilled both requirements. And then some.
I *love* a challenge
So. The love challenge. Oof. This sounds harder in some ways than the idea of waking up every morning at 6am and getting to spin class four times a week. Not that I've ever done either of those things. But that's not the point!
Workout
walk it off . . .
I've been ridiculously busy for the last few days and have had to get creative about getting in some semblance of a workout. On Sunday, for example, I was out from 11am until 2am, and there was no way I was going to lug a bag stuffed with gym clothes, makeup and a flat iron along with my regular bag and the two tins of cupcakes I knew I'd be toting around for 14+ hours.

Workout
I almost thought I didn't work out today.
Then I realized that I walked nearly two miles through Fort Greene and Park Slope, tromping up and down staircases and generally freezing my face off while apartment hunting. In heels. And because of the seemingly sub-zero temperatures, we were hoofing it—I broke into a little jog a few times.
Workout
does a 15-minute walk count as a workout?
When it's so cold your face might freeze off if you stayed out for sixteen minutes, then yes. Yes it does. The fact that I got out and did anything in this freeing Siberian clime is cause for celebration. Perhaps not my most inspired of days, but I'm counting it.
Workout
funky, sexy, sweaty . . .
Went to sexy stretch & funk with Eddie V. tonight at Crunch on Lafayette. Love him, love the classes, love that I finally dragged myself to the gym again after what feels like forever but was really just two days (but I don't have much more wiggle room if I'm really going to make it to 22 workouts by February 12th!!).

Workout
local yoga
Checked out a yoga class that's in a new little studio right at my train stop. It was relaxing & enjoyable. I'm still going to do most of my sun-saluting at Crunch (hey, I've already paid for it—might as well), but I'm glad to have a very convenient option for days like yesterday, when I thought getting in a workout wasn't going to fit into my schedule.

I wish someone from socialworkout would chime in here on some of these questions people have posted . . . but I guess at this point it's up to us to determine our own guidelines regarding things like olive oil and spices (which are definitely "processed" according to the guidelines) . . . for now, I'm just going with simple simple simple. I often eat just fruit for breakfast anyway, so I guess I'll go with that until there's a bit more clarification.

I'm a bit confused about this one . . . is it any three group fitness classes? I've taken a spin class, a combination spin/toning/ab class and a hip hop class so far since the challenge began, but I'm not sure which ones count towards the feat.

@gotigers2003 Me too! I mean, I'm addicted but I haven't set up an email filter ...yet? (not sure i'm strong-willed enough to do that!) . . . I started shopping Gilt on my phone, because I noticed that the sales would go live a few seconds earlier there than on my computer. It's a sad state of affairs . . . In addition to all the emails, I constantly search shopstyle for things on sale, and now that I'm in the process of moving to a new apartment my obsession has expanded to include scouring craigslist/apartment therapy/crate & barrel/dwr/west elm/etc for all things home-related. I should take a cue from you and stay away for a while . . . because clearly I have a problem. Haha! Best of luck!!!!

Sports bra, but a very close second is shower shoes.
There's nothing worse than getting in a really intense workout and then realizing you have to choose between meeting your friends while drenched in your own sweat or risking a myriad of unpleasant foot maladies by venturing shoeless into the community showers. (I always opt for drenching a whole bunch of paper towels and then covertly wiping down in a bathroom stall. the ever-glamourous life of a gym-goer).

WTG for sticking it out! I've had a number of "I hate this so much I want to leave right now" moments since starting this challenge, and was always glad I chose to stick it out too! (oh and PS, what I don't get is people who can read & treadmill at the same time. Maybe I just have an unusual amount of spring in my step, but trying to focus on a printed page in 10pt type with all that bouncing up & down? no thanks.)

Thanks for all the encouragement everyone!! I'm new to this site, and I already love it . . . I don't know about you, but sometimes just being able to say "I'm frustrated" helps me get over it & keep pushing forward. It's very cool to know there are so many of us in this together!
