Workout
Shred Level 3 Gets Easier
I guess I have a "go-to" workout now. I couldn't figure out what else to do, so I fired up the DVD player and let Jillian Michaels have her way with me. This was the fifth time I'd done level 3 in just over a week, and ya know, it didn't feel like quite as much of an ass whooping as before. Where's level 4?
I just did 24 more minutes of Running and Walking!
Workout
Sticking to it: getting a workout in on a busy day
Even though we were having a cookout and had a ton to do, I prioritized exercise and felt great about it. We went out to breakfast and ran the 1.2 miles to the diner in 8 minutes! Walked back with a belly full of grits and eggs, and got to work. Then, with an hour until guests started arriving, fired up the dvd player and knocked out Level 3 of the Shred. Boom.

The honey and I were busy busy with chores and errands today, so I convinced him to do Level 3 of the Shred with me. I'd say we both got our 20 minutes' worth.
I just did 5 more minutes of Weightlifting, Circuit Training & CrossFit!

Workout
True Fitness Is Not Activity-Specific
Today I had a swimming lesson, did a bunch of sets of push-ups (up to 6 at a time, full-body, with the Perfect Push-Ups), and ran five miles in the coolest weather we've had in weeks and weeks.
Workout
My Body Rocked My World Today
I set a goal: three workouts today, to include a 30-minute swimming lesson, Level 3 of the 30-Day Shred, and a Bikram class.
And, whadya know. I nailed it. I did each one and did it well. I am so proud that my body can do the things I ask it to.
Workout
another make-up post, cause I'm still counting
another 40 minutes at the gym
Workout
Shred Level 3
I did the 30-day Shred level 3! It really was tough. Have been working in sets of push-ups throughout the day, too.

What do you do for your plyo workout? This is definitely something I need to work on. I tried box jumps yesterday and they were much harder than I expected. I try to work some jumping type stuff in with burpees and broad jumps, but I know it's not exactly the same as plyo. And in any case, it's HARD!
All of which is to say, you are, as usual, my hero.
And I love that you have a special shower gel for post-workouts. Brilliant. I'm totally copying.

Any tips on getting fresh instead of dried dates? I think the difference is small--they don't have a lot of moisture to start with--but I've noticed sometimes I get them and they're plump, and sometimes they're a little cracklier. I prefer plump!

This is the best. I was thinking of you when I started my Crossfit adventure. It's true; the people were great.

In Bikram, a woman came in after pranayama breathing, put her mat right in front of mine, and then after every pose, rather than standing still, flailed and bounced around doing a little fist-pumping victory dance, so proud of doing each posture.
And then there's poor belching man, who must have some sort of digestive issue. He brings a big drawstring bag full of bottles of water and other beverages, chugs them during class, and then burps and burps the most malodorous little gusts of gut air all through class.

I couldn't get my ass out of bed in time to make it to the 5:45 a.m. classes, but the EZ8 program seems really great. Lots of intervals, sprints, stairs, hills. The people I talked to said it improved their race times significantly. And you don't have to stay with the group. You do as many of whatever the circuit/activity is as you are able in the hour.

That's funny--I am not as good at breathing on my left, either. The other day I went to the pool (first time in ages) and held a kickboard in my hands out in front of me, face in the water, and just kicked and practiced breathing equally on both sides.
