Workout
last workout
weight work (plie squats, triceps ext., military presses) and 4 miles on elliptical.
Workout
snow-forced home yoga
With everything around here canceled today, including my yoga class, I opted for doing a Crunch yoga dvd. Not as good as class, of course, but still pretty good.
D.I.Y. feat
Probably not unusual for a d.i.y. feat: I will meditate and/or read inspiring material everyday.
Workout
run between storms
Went for a 4 mile run this afternoon just as snow was starting to fall again. Glad to get outside and run because I haven't been able to since Snowmaggedon.
Workout
snow forces home workout
Did weight routine (upper body: triceps ext., overhead presses, curls), (lower body: weighted lunges, plie dips) and lululemon yoga dvd (Eion Finn). Monday night yoga class (and everything else) canceled due to snow with more expected. Cabin fever setting in.
Workout
last run before snowstorm
Did some upper body weight work (presses, curls) and then went for a 4 mile run. Glad I did because now it is snowing and the D.C. area is supposed to get slammed. We still have huge mounds of snow from last week. What a crazy winter!
Workout
power of yoga
Went to yoga class this morning not feeling that great from fighting off a cold. I was worried I wouldn't do too well but I made it through and felt great afterward.
Workout
calories burned while skating (felt like lots)
I hope ice skating counts as a workout. Skated for about 1.25 minutes nonstop.
Workout
shiva rea & snow shoveling
Did 2 parts of the Shiva Rea Sun Salutation dvd. It felt good after shoveling snow for an hour.
Workout
liking cold weather runs
This morning I ran 4 miles on my normal hilly neighborhood route. It has gotten pretty cold again and I was worried I was going to be too cold. It turns out that I don't even notice the cold after 5 minutes with only the addition of gloves and a neck gaiter. In the winter I usually wear compression running tights, a base layer, running jacket and headband.

Workout
successful wheel pose
had my twice-weekly strength & fitness yoga and managed to hoist myself into urdva dhanurasana, which isn't always successful.

Thanks for the kind words. This is the 2nd time I have managed this (out of 5 attempts) and I was surprised when I was actually up off the floor! Believe me, I can relate about falling flat on my back. And as for pigeon - ouch!!

Thanks for the encouragement. I also was elated (and surprised) when I realized I was up. This was the 2nd time I have done it (out of 5 attempts) and I felt more solid in the pose. The funny thing is, is that my 9-year-old daughter can do it effortlessly!

I was very disappointed in this dvd. While I am sure it is a decent calorie-burner, I thought that Mandy Ingber came across as snarky, arrogant and vain. My 6-yr-old daughter was watching the dvd with me the 1st time and I cringed when Ingber started proclaiming that our new mantra should be something like "I'll have a great a**". She didn't exude any goodness at all. Even when she said "Namaste" at the end, she sounded sarcastic.I prefer to feel a at least a little bit spiritual when doing yoga. My daughter said she seemed "mean".
