HELLO

Hi Social Workout. I found out about this site (through apartment therapy) in the middle of the last challenge so for the past month or so I have read More...

Logging workouts...
I wish I could log multiple days at once. I guess this is just the public humiliation I get for slacking with the blogs...
Anyway, think way back to last Saturday---I went to Bally's at 7:30am (!!!) to get in a good workout before family came to town. One hour on the treadmill...a lot of running, a lot of incline, a lot of incline running.
Workout
Circus Freak of Aerobics
I took what I didn't know was going to be an aerobics class last night. Not cool...at all. I took tap, jazz and ballet as a child and always thought I have rythm, balance and control of my body. Apparently, that wore off and now I am just gangly and uncoordinated. I am not even that tall...5 feet 5 1/2 inches.
Workout
Ho Hum...nothing interesting...move right along
Day 2 down of my Three Feat Weak....so far so good. I also got in the Sweat Feat yesterday and rekindled my love for raisins. I should also be able to finish up Brown Bagger by Friday. If this all goes through, it's going to be a very successful week.
Workout - 1.5 mile run/warmup followed by an hour of abs, arms, and butt
Feats...As of Tuesday, October 13th
Fast Foodless - Day 13 of 31
Workout
128 US Fluid Ounces = 1 US Gallon
Yesterday I drank 155 fluid ounces of water plus the water fountain slurps at the gym. I keep tally marks on my Nalgene bottle and by the end of the day I had 6. You tell me to give up caffiene, sweets and drink only water...I grow gills.
Workout
Three Feat Week
This week I am attempting and going to conquer the no caffeine, all water and unsweetened feats. No honey in the greek yogurt this morning and Nalgane bottle filled with water.
Workout
Watching the Chicago Marathon....
...while I am wrapped in warmth on my couch and eating pancakes. Yeah...I feel a bit guilty about all that but I have an 11:30am bootcamp class that I will get up for...maybe. Dude, it's 34 degrees but feels like 28 degrees in Chicago this marathon morning! I have set a goal to run the half next year.
Workout
I squeeeeeezed the life out of that machine....
Ugh, in my quest to find group exercise classes that I are a well rounded workout, I feel like I completely wasted 45 minutes of my life in POWERFLEX last night. It's a resistance training and toning class....and it's just boring with nadda challenge and inspiration. I used weights that pushed me and I am not in the least bit sore this morning.
Workout
Whey and Soy and Egg! Oh My!
Proteins....I have done a bit of reading about these 3 types and just really don't know which one to pick. I usually go with the egg...why? because it's fat free and high in protein (duh!). But, why not the others? Not sure. Egg just usually comes out of my mouth when I am ordering. Does anyone have insight on the others...pros/cons?
Workout
Sweating rivers during my workout...
Last night I took KWANDO Flex which is a combination of kickboxing moves and weight lifting...first time having a go at this as I attempt new workouts. The moves where no problem for me and once again my heart rate remained high throughout the class. But, I sweat some serious sweat...I always have during my workouts. Now, I look around the room and people are as dry as the desert. HOW?

So, blogging is obviously going to be the hardest part of this challenge for me. I go M.I.A. on the weekends mostly because I can't stand the thought of having to sit down at my computer to write when that's what I do allllll week long. And, that is why it's called a challenge so I must be a better blogger on the weekend.

The user hasn't yet posted any reviews.
So, I am absent from life and Social Workout for a loooong time and I log in to see good ol' Ron Blagojevich running from...something. Nonetheless, good quote. Too bad a lot of this art has been painted over around Chicago.

This maaaaay help you sugar craving right now but it's not sugar AND is good for you....try a protien shake at the Protein Bar right across from the Sears Tower if you are in that area (Franklin and Adams). I gave up sugar this week as well and just needed something sweet aside from my standard apple. I just downed one in 5 minutes. I would tell you to go for the standard Chicago pizza tonight but I am not sure it is SW conducive. Chicago is crappy to visit when the weather is bad since most great things are done outdoors....but know that it has been bad weather all week long. Good luck at the race!

I have noticed in the classes that no one is really paying attention to what others are doing...everyone is just concentrating on their own thing at their own pace. So, keep at it.

Are we supposed to be making our own smoothies or can they be purchased..knowing what is in it and that it is all healthy. And, if purchased, do protein shakes/concoctions count?

Have fun with the Urbanathalon! I hope you have some time to bum around Chicago...though the will probably see a good part of it during the race.

According to my heart rate monitor vs what the eleptical says...the eleptical is off. I am much more trusting of the heart rate monitor and it usually equals to be 100 calories/mile or a little less. Hope that helps.

Why is it when you are trying to not eat or drink something that is all you can think about eating or drinking?!

Another issue...people are checking off some of the month-long feats. How do they know they accomplished that before the month is over..or better yet, before the month even started?

I was curious about that as well. It clearly states the Fall Challange begins on October 1st.

You do love your trainer! Quite jealous. I would do anything (well, almost anything) to be able to afford rent, grad school and a personal trainer. Until then, I will just see how many free sessions I can work :)
