Football is getting slightly less embarassing
Yesterday was a game and a half of football, in which I played decently. I felt like I actually was actually helping when playing (so far I'm defense only). I'm also happy to report that during warming up I've started getting the hang of throwing and catching the ball. Slow progress, and something I probably should have learned as a kid, but better late than never!
I just did 70 more minutes of Running and Walking!
I just did 10 more minutes of Yoga, Meditation, Chanting!
I just did 55 more minutes of Cycling, Spinning, & Rowing!

Spin pre-rugby watching
Yesterday I went to Randall's Island and watched a rugby game. Since that brought me to the UES I used the opportunity to go to the spin class I used to do every Saturday. It was a great class, though it brought home how out of whack the calorie counter is on the new bikes at Equinox. This one said I burned over 750 calories in 45 minutes, which simply doesn't happen for me, a

Workout
Today
Today workout was driven by the realization that I'm still neglecting my strength training. I did 65 minutes of weights, 10 minutes on the elliptical and 10 minutes stretching. The big plus was working out in a gym with sufficient cell reception that I could listen to slacker radio, which I now love way more than pandora.
Workout
Wednesday's workout
Why oh why can't I post on time? Wednesday after work I did 25 minutes on the elliptical, 10 minutes on the treadmill, a 10 minute stretch and a 75 minute yoga class.
Workout
Belated catchup
I'm way behind and haven't been able to hit the gym the past 2 days. This is for my satuday am yoga class..90 minutes!
Workout
Walking all over Brooklyn
in search of my new apartment. Instead of busing it I decided to walk to an apartment in Park Slope, then to one in Fort Greene, then back home to PS. All told, 1 hour of walking, which on such a beautiful day was a real delight.
Workout
Brief post
Starving...need food so quick post. Did a 30 minute abs class and a 60 minute strength training class. It was good.
No clue where abs class belongs...I put it in dancing, pilates and aerobics.
Workout
I can barely breathe.....hooray!
Yesterday's great moment came in the morning when I went to the ENT. I wanted to know if I had a deviated septum, and it took the doctor all of two seconds to look in my nose and see that I do. Apparently, almost everyone has a deviated septum to some extent or another. In my case it's not deviated very far, but my breathing passageways are so narrow that they're 50% bloc
Workout
Sunday football
Today was my second attempt at playing team sports in, oh, 17 years. I played football, and while I played pretty badly it was a learning experience and I had as much fun as can be had when your team loses. Here's hoping that I can get better with time. I walked to the game, so that was about 30 minutes of walking time.
Times: intramural sports: 60 minutes, walking: 30 minutes.
Workout
Calf recovery yoga
Yesterday I took a day off, as my calf muscles were killing me all day long. Every step I took I thought 'ow' inside my head. It's just the calves, so luckly it's only when stepping and making certain movements that it hurts, but they really hurt yesterday, and they still really hurt today. I'm hoping they're not strained and that its just DOMS without the D.

I'm with the sweat crowd on this one. I wear non-black on days I'm doing strength training or light cardio, but if I'm going to sweat (which happens a lot) I'll stick with black. Usually cropped length though, full length gets too warm.

It's great that you enjoyed your first class! Ssattin is right - try lots and find what works well for you. Also, as you progress you'll find that certain poses become easier and feel more rewarding than they did in the beginning. Pigeon pose is a hip-opener and, as one of my instructors likes to remind the class, those can be very emotional, especially if your hips are particularly tight. The challenge is worth it though!

It's one of Ilaria Montagnani's classes, she went through three sets of each of three different exercises. Very exhausting!

I'm a fan of making tofu stir-fry, beans with veggies (see my last post), and agree heartily with the greenmarket tomatoes/basil/mozzarella. Joe's Dairy is my fave source for mozz, it is insanely delicious and fresh and I have to fight to not eat it on the way home.
Lynnhaven at the greenmarket has an orange/walnut/honey chevre that makes a great spinach salad if you make up some orange vinaigrette, toss in some walnuts and whatever else you feel like.
Thanks for the links to Bittman's list...love them! I'm also a fan of this recipe of his, it does get warm cooking it, but it's so yummy: http://bitten.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/02/11/recipe-of-the-day-pasta-with-...

I often slip into feeling guilty for the same reason. I think that part of getting over it is knowing that each of those things is important to you feeling and doing your best, so neglecting one is neglecting yourself in a sense. At least that's what I tell myself. Good luck!

Cool history lesson! Also great to know what that new Precor machine is, I've been a fan since my gym added a couple but had no clue what to call it. It's like an elliptical but not.
