Workout
First Group Class: Spinning
Took a spinning class at the gym yesterday: 45 minutes of hills and sprints, plus a few situps, pushups, and squats just to round things out.
Workout
Training for a 5k
So I've taken the plunge...I've decided to run a 5k in April. April 17th to be exact, so I have like 6 weeks to really get myself conditioned. Right now I can run 3 miles in about 35 minutes, which from my understanding isn't too bad. But, I still have to stop and catch my breath once or twice, especially if a hill is involved, and I'd like to work on that a bit more. I'
Workout
Running and Rock Climbing
Went for a short run (1 mile) just to work in some cardio, and then I went rock climbing with a friend of mine. I think we did pretty well for ourselves, and I was definitely sore the next day. I really need to work on my reclining climbs though....the ones where the wall levels out so you're just hanging horizontally. Just freaks me out more than anything. One day I'll

Last Workout of the Challenge: Rock Climbing!!!!!
Went rock climbing last night after work. For the most part I just belayed others, but that's not so bad - you get to meet some pretty cool people that way, and i like encouraging the newbies to keep coming back. I did get in a few good climbs afterwards. I'm not very good at climbing, mainly because I lack upper body strength and generally have the body composition of a marsh
Workout
Running in the Cold
Went for a 2.25 mile run last night in the freezing cold (literally - freezing). Some of you may scoff at this, but I live in Georgia. We're supposed to have about two weeks of freezing weather per year and that's it. But noooooo. This year we've had about 10 weeks so far and no signs of stopping yet. I feel like I need to run just to avoid hypoth
Workout
Tuesday Dance Class
Had my usual Tuesday night lindy hop class yesterday. We actually spent a lot of time just perfecting an old move, which was kind of annoying, but it is good to work on fundamentals before trying to build on them. I made up for it in the practica after class though. I worked on my balboa, and my friend Matthew and I worked on an old lindy move that we always had trouble with.&

Shoutout to Christabel and the Jons!
What's better than working out with great music on your ipod? Working out with great music from a live band, of course! My usual Monday night swing dance had it's five year anniversary last night and convinced the fabulous band Christabel and the Jons to come play for us. It was AWESOME. Great music, everyone dressed up, great dances, and the place was packed! I en
Workout
Sunday Morning Run
I managed to be awake and out of bed by 9am on Sunday - shocker! I had a massage scheduled for 11am and a Super Bowl party later that night, so I felt like I needed to earn my keep for the day. I did a two mile run, which nearly killed me (I am *not* a morning person), but the ensuing hot shower and massage felt sooooo good afterward. And of course, I felt slightly less bad ab
Workout
The Vinyl Experience II
Ah, there's nothing like dancing on a Saturday night, unless it's swing dancing to old records on their original vinyl. :) Yes, there may be a few scratches and a few skips, but it still makes me want to dance. I worked up a good sweat over 2 1/2 hours, which felt awesome compared to the sub-freezing temps outside. Did a little lindy hop, a little east coast, some charle

it's Atlanta Rocks in Atlanta, GA. And I know the challenge is just for a week, I'm just really not a morning person. :P

I think places like Target and Walmart have them in most stores, and possibly smaller places like CVS or Walgreens. Just check out the fitness section next to the weights and yoga mats. Also, you can always find one on Amazon.com if necessary. :)

It sounds to me like they would count - after all, you spent the time to prepare the meal oh-so-lovingly, and homecooked meals are not often eaten on the go, so you'll have to sit down and enjoy the meal. I think that qualifies as "preparing and eating with intention". Although, I'm pretty sure peanut butter and jelly sandwiches don't count. :)

How about this holiday season, we give a gift back to mother nature? Ten days out of the month, try an alternate commute to work - walking, taking the bus/train, biking, or carpooling!

rock on! i was worried about this challenge as well. glad to hear it's do-able. you're right about sugar content too.....it's incredible what they add sugar to. like dried fruit - it's *fruit* for crying out loud. it's called "nature's candy" for a reason. stop trying to add shit to it!
one trick i learned a while back - unsweetened applesauce with cinnamon is a totally yummy dessert. got any tricks that you learned to help you stay off sugar?

I consider half a mile in heels a workout while sober. A half mile while hungover is a miracle. It totally counts. :)

i hear that. "on the wagon" was not even a consideration. you are my personal hero for attempting "unsweetened", however.
