Workout
Pilates in the house
I got my ball out and made up/borrowed some pilates inspired moves for quite a sweat inducing workout. Did 20 pushups in a row with my darn feet on that ball. Good times. Followed with 5 minutes of yoga and a full 8 minutes of breathing in meditation. Very much needed for a rainy monday.

Workout
Yoga, yoga, yoga
Virgin yoga. Slippery, slippery mat. Towel didn't help. Lesson learned. They got rid of all the mats that I liked to use at Crunch. Thanks, Crunch. The new mats, even when worn in, still slip. This is a sign that I should start using my own, with the fancy bag I got for Christmas that I've been too timid to use.
Place:
Crunch - Union Square

Birthday bash
I like to workout on my birthday. My gift to myself. So to celebrate, I decided to run 2.6 miles or 26 minutes, whichever came first. I started out with weights though, focusing on my arms so as to not tire out my legs. Anyway, 2.6/26 came and went and I managed a wonderful 35 minute run for a total of about 3.4 miles. Not bad. Body, please don't get old.&nbs
Workout
Many workouts, all in one
Lots of mini mini workouts. Walking to the subway in the morning (Monday, Tuesday). Walking to get places (Friday, Saturday & Sunday, only a few subway stops, but better than nothing). 5 minutes of yoga. It's hard to get workouts in with guests around, but I'm celebrating my birthday today with a trip to the gym (prior to pigging out on pizza and other delicious thin
Workout
Back to basics
Virgin yoga, 14 minutes on the treadmill, 22 minute walk to the train this morning. Trying to incorporate more walking into my days after having lost weight on a very food heavy 2 week vacation that involved a lot of walking. I hate working at a desk!
Workout
Too busy to wake up early
I baked a cake on Tuesday night, which meant that my attempt to get up early on Wednesday did not happen. I got up early enough to do 1/2 hour of a 10 minute solution pilates video.
Worth it.
Workout
President's day extravaganza!
1.5 hour yoga class! In the comfort of my own bedroom. God, I love podcasts and netflix. Felt good and sore on Tuesday.
Workout
Valentine's day is for muscles and mussels and love?
V-day this year was a day of bread baking, 5-grain hot cereal, and a thwarted attempt at going to the gym. Instead of doing the walk, take the train, go to class, rush back to make it to dinner reservations in time, I stayed home and did a quickie video yoga.
Workout
Too too fresh!
Ok, how many people have used that? Ballet is friggin' hard. Tina T is friggin' tough. My calves are on fire, but I lovvvved that class. Except that there were, like, real ballerinas and I was, like, awful. Not awful, but I cannot do glissades. Not yet, that is.
Class(es) Taken:
Tutu Fresh - Tina T.

Workout
Running before sitting for hours
Usually running before sitting for hours is a good idea. Not so much when the sitting involves watching an opera. The opera, Ariadne auf Naxos, was funny and well performed. Some of the performances were weak, but overall it was an enjoyable experience. As for the running, I am running on nearly empty, but I am loathe to use the weight machines and prefer a long-ish run

Can't be that bad. Everyone likes getting recognized with patches and certificates for things their bodies do naturally. I had a few reds and 3 blues in my childhood, and I was pretty darn proud of them. If I could do 3 pull ups now I would expect the same recognition from the government.

Oh, why is the fencing in the middle of the day? I can't leave my office to go try to bring back my awesome skills! Phooey!

Social smoking has left the building. Going to keep that one up. I think that's the healthiest thing I could do for myself.

7 am to 7 am, lots of checking and making sure things were close. Got eggs that were under 100 miles, mushrooms, and even flour that claimed close proximity to my home. I used a lot of Google mapping to be sure. I didn't starve, but I would definitely expand this to 200 miles if I were to do this in real life, just for the extra cheeses & whatnot.
I will be having a local butternut squash soup made with a local onion, garlic, cream and other goodies tonight. Yum.

I'll have to say, I'm straddling the "This wasn't so bad" sentiment and the "This was ridiculously diifficult" sentiment. I have a mega sweet tooth, and found myself really, really excited about the delicious grapes in the fridge, the little bit of no-sugar added raisins in my oatmeal, the mandarins at work, and the natural sweetenting power of milk in my coffee. The coffee was easy - I gave up sugar in my coffee a long time ago. But other things posed the problem. I am vigilant about reading for high fructose corn syrup, but not other sugar. I know sugar is a necessary ingredient for some breads (helps the yeast), and is mysteriously added to other foods. I have a big thing of natural peanut butter (peanuts & 1% or less of salt) that has a large dent in it. I didn't feel any different. I did feel left out at work when they had a cupcake going away party for a coworker & I explained I wasn't eating sugar. It's amazing how people reacted ("Why?!?" look-of-horror & "I want to do that" look-of-agreement). Anyway, glad to be done. This felt very food-control-issue-y to me, but I might be less dependent on the sweets in the future (needing/craving/dying for desserts), not so much worrying about the sugar in my hot sauce.

That's an awesome amount of self control.

Can I edit this? It wasn't a horrible run, really. I'm just a curmudgeon who is never satisfied.

I always feel torn between accepting a sub and being indignant about not having the class I expected, because sometimes they're ok, but I'd say about 40% of the time, they are not ok, and do funky things to your shoulder or just don't have good transitions, or forget what they're doing. I feel your pain!

Thanks! I hope you make it. It took a little extra focus, but it felt so good!
