HELLO
lizh

I like to cook and eat WAY more than I like to exercise, but this running thing is kind of addictive. Pig-headedness is my motivation.

I just did 50 more minutes of Running and Walking!
Workout
I can't decide if I'm exhausted from swimming or from not sleeping well
It's probably both, since I definitely haven't been sleeping as much as I need and I work HARD in the pool today. Aside from my warm-up and cool-down laps, I swam at between 80 and 90% of my sprint speed for every lap. And did some sprints, too, just for fun.
I just did 30 more minutes of Swimming!
I just did 120 more minutes of Swimming!
Workout
Back, and swimming like crazy
Hmm, I disappeared for a good while there, didn't I? It got hot out, was the problem. I have learned that I cannot abide running if it's over 70 degrees, especially if it's humid. And then it took me a month or so to remember that I adore swimming and have an annual pool membership, and to get my ass back in the water.

Workout
Roxette got me through this run
I felt really good starting out this morning, but that stopped about 5 minutes in, when my body realized just how crazy humid it was out.
No podcast today, just Look Sharp! and running as much as I could. One 15-minute run, followed by 5 minutes walking, 5 running, 4 walking and 4 running. Hoping to get back to the nonstops Monday.
Workout
A healing walk
Once upon a time, I worked at a different location. And that place was a 5-minute walk to a mile-and-a-half bike path that would lead me back into the city. So once or twice a week during nice weather I would walk home on that path. With the crosstown walk once I got back to the city added in, it took me between 2 and 2 1/2 hours door to door. It was amazing. Nothi

The taking-my-aunt-sightseeing-around-town-for-5 1/2-hours-is-definitely-a-workout workout
I am sunburnt and exhausted. My feet and legs are so sore, and I have blisters on top of blisters. I think that counts.
Workout
This is where my pigheadedness needs to kick in
Tried a 25-minute nonstop this run. I made it about halfway through and just couldn't manage any more. So I walked for a bit, then ran, then walked, then ran again. I ran the full 25 minutes, but only just.
I'm telling myself that this is normal, and that my body has had 33 years of coddling and isn't used to this kind of effort. But it's frustrating.
Workout
Well, I've never done THAT before
Run for 25 minutes non-stop, that is.
Also an accomplishment: despite the 5:30 am wake-up and the miserably rainy weather, I stayed alert enough to not get run over by a car. Always a good way to start the morning.
Couch to 5K, week 6, run 3! It's all nonstop from here on out.
Workout
Succeeding in spite of myself
Some mornings I wake up and cannot wait to go for a run. I'm amped from the moment I open my eyes and I carry that enthusiasm into my workout.
Some mornings I don't really think about the run; I just do it because it's part of my routine.
Workout
A bit of a setback
I should have listened to my body this morning.
Like when it told me that what I thought was allergies was, in fact, a headcold.
Or when it told me I was super-dehydrated, but wasn't going to overcome that easily, since drinking water hurts my throat right now.
Or when I started my run and my legs felt like they were anchored to the ground.
Workout
Run run run run run
Couch to 5K, week 6, run 1
Now if you'll excuse me, I have to go attend to some bread baking.

Thanks, Liz. It's good to be back.
Zuzu -- Good lord, that sounds really unappealing. But I'm sure you will power through it and really really enjoy getting to shower after.
The swimming pool is my natural habitat in the summer. It's really the best place in the whole entire world when it's hot out.

Avoiding the rain today was a challenge for us all. And belated congrats on the job!

Either way, you can take solace that it wasn't the East coast monsoon that hit Philly this morning. That would have been really drenching to run in.

Aw, if we were in the same city, I would love to be your actual workout partner. Except, I'm completely stuck on week 6. Trying again tomorrow.

I love the image of the train of evenly paced runners. Nice. And how awesome that you have a job where day-to-day work is what some might count as a workout? I have that sometimes, sort of, and I love it.

Skin cancer aside, I am 100% convinced that being in the sun is healing. What a lovely way to spend the day!

I love the measurements idea. I might steal it from you, since I have such a hate/hate/hate relationship with my bathroom scale right now.
Congrats on the hard work!

Thanks, guys! Bottle Rocket -- seriously, it's the only way to get out of the house some days. Wander about until you trick yourself into thinking that you want to move. :)

I think bike commuting is way more impressive than non-city-street cycling workouts. Much less chance of death by crazy traffic when you're off the road.
Enjoy your run tomorrow! (I just mistyped "enjoy your rum tomorrow," so make yourself a drink to celebrate)?

This is my theory for where to draw the line for a walking commute: I normally walk to work, and it takes around 35-40 minutes. BUT, if I push the pace, I can make it in 30 minutes. That 30 minutes puts me at a 3.5 mph pace, stretches my legs, gets my heart rate up, has me passing everyone on the sidewalk, and energizes me for the day. So I'm thinking I'll count the commute minutes, but only if I manage it in 30 minutes or less. Thoughts?

These challenges are always so exciting! And everyone here is good at supporting, but also understanding about the lapses we all have. It sounds like you had a wonderful weekend and have nothing to beat yourself up about.

That is a lovely idea. Wish I'd seen this post last night when I almost lost it after work. Whatever was in the air spread clear down the East Coast, 'cause Philly was full of it too. You are still my SW inspiration!
