get into the groove
did my cardio... high heart rate, long duration (for me)... done
Place:
Equinox - Brooklyn Heights
in the quiet of the morning I reflect
Took a walk around 10 am to the farmer's market in my neighborhood. It's one of my favorite things to do. Abundance of fresh, local fruits, veggies, mounds of tomatoes, peaches, chard and kale and bokchoy, radishes... colorful flowers, wild-caught fish, free-range eggs and turkey and chicken...
Workout
3 whole minutes
It sorta doesn't seem like a lot... but I increased my cardio by 3 minutes today. Nonstop duration at my high heart rate zone... Given that it's torture to do it at all [yet I do it] doing 43 is a deal for me... and I did it. I just gotta keep talking to myself to make it happen... (I almost cried when I was done!) Next week we up-it to 47...

he doesn't even need to speak!
My trainer had laryngitis so couldn't talk during our session. Didn't matter. He demonstrated, pointed, texted, clapped and I often filled in the blanks. We had a great session and it was fun! He's my geek!

there's nothing to say... it's grueling and boring... and my durations are only going to increase... oy... did it. that's all i can say...

here and there...
well, having a hard time keeping to my own sleep challenge... life is so stressful, that I feel like I want to eat or stay up to the point of exhaustion or both. I've been trying really hard not to do the eating part, but still, even eating veggies obsessively isn't good.. .since it's about the how and when and why as much as anything else. Have I said lately that I love my trainer?

catching up take 2
Missed a cardio last week (even though I took a kickboxing class), my trainer didn't consider it part of the program he gave me, so I owed him! hmph! did the arc trainer this morning...

shadow
Took my first shadow / kickboxing class last night. My trainer was out of town (yes, horrible, but I do support him taking a vacation once in a while, even if it means I don't get to work out with him...) So this class was hard...

start of a new 6-weeks
Today starts my next 6-week cardio program. My trainer's kickin it up a notch. Increasing the duration week by week and pushing it at my high heart rate zone the whole time...

Thanks for the reminder of kale and curry. I have a great recipe that I love to do with lacinto kale:
Slive the leaves into strips and then lightly steam (leaving keeping it almost al dente). Then julienne red pepper and scallions and mix into the steamed kale. Drizzle with roasted sesame seed oil, and sprinkle salt and pepper to taste. Let cool and eat as a salad.

Right on saucyd. I know exactly what you're talking about. I've journalled on and off for a couple of years now, and it definitely helps to revisit that now and again. I plan my meals and cook huge amounts of food for the week usually once or twice a week - grilled chicken and fish, every veggie imagineable, whole grains and lentils... that kinda stuff. And I go to the gym (without fail) 5 x a week. I NEVER thought I'd be that person... but I'm loving it, and loving that I've transformed myself... and it's still a work in progress... a creative effort. (The hardest thing, which is what I'm working on now, is transforming my emotional relationship to food. I know how to eat well, eat whole foods, portion control, etc. but it's the emotional things that get in the way and trip me up. I want to be someone who can love food, but not in an out of control or unthoughtful way... getting there!)

Right on Kophelia! It's an amazing feeling, isn't it? I've been (and am continuing) on a similar journey and I love being "that" person (who exercises and eats healthy and is starting to feel good about where I'm at physically). I have more to go, but it's been a lifestyle change in a way that it never was in the past... and the exercising has been a huge part of that transformation for me. Keep up the good work and luxuriate in your journey!

I'll weigh in here as well... I love my sports bras... I also go to modells and get the champions with the cup size and hooks in the back. My gals don't move and I don't feel like I'm wearing a sausage on my chest (with those uni-pull-ons).
P.S. waiting for Mohawk to comment on this topic! LOL

Okay, I'm going to add up all the weird things I did on vacation in Africa, and throw it into here. These are all averages, but I think it's fair and I'm not overstating anything.
Lugging a carry-on as well as a huge suitcase through the international airports. Going and coming home, as well as the domestic flights within the continent - 6 hours (360 mins)
Dancing at the Boma (10 mins)
Getting on and off the busses and jeeps: 120 minutes
Walking back and forth to the buffet (and lifting a heavy plate laden with fattening food): 280 minutes
Walking through Victoria Falls: 60 minutes
Power walk down a dirt road fending off vendors trying to sell me carved animals and barter for my sneakers: 30 minutes
Shopping for souvenirs: 360 minutes

@mohawk - glad you've been lifting those brows... we DO need all the minutes we can get! (I think you should also add all those heavy pints you've been lifting to your lips... not an easy feat, I'm sure!)
