I miss SoWo 1.0
I've been lurking on the SoWo 2.0 site for the past few months, but I miss you SoWo 1.0. It's true that 2.0 has it's advantages, but it doesn't have that cozy lived in feel. There's no news, no gossip, no quotes of the day. And although 2.0 is full of well-meaning challenges, they just don't have the inspiration of a good feralicious workout or even the dreaded million minutes challenge.
Workout
last MMM post
I didn't get a chance to post my last 2 workouts this week.
Thurs: 40 min. walking
Fri: 50 min. walking
so my personal MMM total 6750 (official) + 90 = 6840!
too bad I had to work so much this past week. I wanted to get it over 7000.
Can't wait for the next challenge.
I just did 40 more minutes of Running and Walking!
I just did 44 more minutes of Running and Walking!
Workout
6666 minutes!
I couldn't resist. I walked more than 16 minutes at lunch, but I wanted the lucky 6s.

another glorious bike ride
what a beautiful day for a bike ride along the St lawrence river. Saw people wave surfing in the rapids, very cool. Also great views across the river of the mountains, we could even see the Adirondacks off in the distance. Can't wait to go along that bike path again.

my muscles are twitching
I love it. great 2 hour bike ride and now my thighs are twitching. Nothing says great workout better than twitchy muscles :)
Workout
I think my man is jealous
I've been working at home this week which means I exercise every day and I think my man is jealous. He's full of snarky comments. He should be happy, he gets to benefit from all my exercise :)
Workout
yoga en français
living in Montreal means speaking english and french every day for me, but I never went to a completely french yoga class before. Today I tried a new yoga studio, closer to home and had a great 90 min. class with Andre. I had a think a bit more about what he was saying but it was easy enough. So I got my yoga workout plus a french lesson. :)
Workout
working at home = more me time
As a freelancer I'm at the mercy of my clients so I work wherever they want me which often means no time for exercise. But today I was asked to work from home which means I go to the gym first! I went to a 9am buns of steel class and 30 min. of yoga. I feel great!
Workout
bixied my way to work today
For the first time I used a Bixi bike to get to work. Bixi is a "public" bike system here in Montreal. It was an interesting experience. They are quite heavy compared to my regular bike but once I got to the office I deposited the bike at a Bixi stand and went on my merry way. Tonight I can go pick up a new Bixi and ride home. All for $5/day.
Workout
beatiful bike ride
Yesterday afternoon the weather was gorgeous up here in Montreal and we went for a beautiful bike ride along the canals of the St. Lawrence river. I could've kept going for hours but the whiney 7-year-old put an early end to our ride. Maybe sleep away summer camp would be a good idea for next year :)
Workout
post vaca workout
first time back at the gym in 12 days. It was great. I love going to the gym. My body was getting tense from lack of real exercise and stretching. I just can't get my yoga groove on at home or in a hotel room with family watching, but at the gym I'm all over it. I did 30 minutes of yoga, 30 min. intervals on the elliptical and 300 crunches.

I LOVE the fake ad. Nike should use it as a real ad. That woman is real and MY BUTT IS BIG too!

I live in Canada and I think that any tax credit we can get is great. I would spend the money on my kid regardless. He needs to move during the winter weekends so we always go for some kind of indoor activity: soccer, ball hockey, tumbling. It's all good.

After my son was born I didn't think about dieting but I did stop eating like a crazy pregnant lady (except for extra calcium) and went for LOTS of long walks with baby in the stroller. That was the best way for him to sleep and I got out of the house and exercised. I also started back at the gym when he was 5 weeks old and put him in the gym daycare at 3 months.
good luck :)

I think that you're awesome for giving your sister a much-needed break!
For me exercise is my way of staying sane. So I squeeze it wherever I can -- yoga at lunch time, weekend mornings at the gym where there's daycare, stairs instead of elevator, whatever and wherever. And exercising with the kid in tow, bike rides, long walks, playing in the park, it all counts.

you'll understand when you are 44! I don't need to emphasis the size of my bum or the cellulite, and I think black helps. I wear full-length in winter and cropped in summer, but only for gym or yoga.

my guess would be to put elliptical minutes in with swimming, cycling, cardio, etc.

A good challenge for me is to give up soda. I never buy it for the house but when I'm at work I usually have a diet soda with lunch or in the afternoon. I'll try downgrading to club soda/seltzer for the bubbles and eventually regular water.
march 12 - this is a tough one. I almost broke down yesterday and today. Be strong, carry on.

Since I have never ever been able to do a pullup, and I don't think I every will, my goal will be to do assisted pullups (and dips) at least 20 times during the challenge. I may be able to accomplish one dip by the end.

baked 3 loaves of whole wheat bread today. Made a marinated beet salad and a couscous with veg salad so I'm all set for wild lunches for the week to come. And during the week I'll make apple crisp for dessert.
locavore and feralcious

I make 2 beds every day. I like coming home to a made bed, then I don't look at the mess in the rest of the room.

instead of buying a new plant, I cleaned up my old plants by giving them a shower to get of the dust and repotted a few. They look happy and shiny now.
