Workout
Island ride
Today's workout was a breezy 75-minute ride on a public Stockholm city bike around my home island of Södermalm. The bikes have one of the best constructions I have seen so far, they are surprisingly lightweight and easy to maneuvre and have three gears plus lights and a basket. At 250 SEK per season (April-October) it's a steal.
I just did 75 more minutes of Cycling, Spinning, & Rowing!
I just did 120 more minutes of Running and Walking!
I just did 60 more minutes of Running and Walking!
I just did 30 more minutes!
Workout
Running (to a Seriously Weird Tune)
As the recent weather conditions had rendered the streets free of both black and visible ice, I decided to go for a run. Left work early, put my iPod on shuffle and started pounding the pavement. To have visual on other people, I chose the "tourist" route which is bound to have people jogging, nordic walking, walking their dogs regardless of the weather.
Workout
Body Sculpture
For the sake of the upcoming holiday party season and one particularly gorgeous sleeveless top, I gave in to vanity and tried the "Sculpt Sexy Curves" workout from latest issue of Self magazine. It was quite enjoyable, especially because I didn't have to preoccupy myself with designing a workout and had some new moves I had never tried before.
Workout
Hip Hop is Dead
I had missed the class last week only to discover that not much had happened with the Cash Money routine, only the beginning was elaborated to a "money walk", a kind on limping step, and last session's fave God and Elvis had left the building to my disappointment :( The instructor was tempted to blast my all time favorite hip hop track, "Hip Hop is Dead" by NAS, but gave it up pretty quickly fo
Workout
Post Challenge M.I.A
Being new to Social Workout (I only rolled in as I signed up for the Eat.Sweat.Blog challenge) I hadn't realized that I could actually use the site for tracking my workouts even after the challenge was over, so I have been in total radio silence since unintentionally... Nevertheless, I'm back (and can hear the "dohs", but try to bear with us newbies)!
Workout
Running Finale
My last workout on ESB was a brisk 40-minute run in absolutely beautiful crisp and sunny weather in the central park. Today I will celebrate with nice red wine and a slab of divine Spanish goat's cheese. Bliss!

Workout
Circuit, Round Two
8 a.m. circuit training with my colleague at the university gym. The instructor's playlist hadn't changed from last week, but fortunately the moves were. Felt the burn and am happy to neutralize it all with a night out with friends from college. :D
Workout
Cash Monnaie
Oh yes, this was the theme for yesterdays late-night funk class. Our instructor blasted Lloyd Banks, and we we're trying grab the $$$ (it grew in trees...) and threw it around. The grand finale of the routine was something called "God and Elvis", dropping from a prayer to a badass bottom slide on the floor. My poor behind is bruised, but it was the best workout all week. Heck, all month!
Workout
Behind once again
An upcoming grant application deadline has seriously hampered my workouts, but I try to squeeze in excercise wherever I can and report them even if grossly late. My last workout was a little over 3k of nordic walking in pouring rain (this counts, don't you think?) and a one-hour session at the gym.
Workout
Rural Running
Today I headed to shed off yesterday's heavenly dinner with a 7k run by the riverbank. Weather was chilly and misty, but the fall colors were spectacular, and I saw about thirty green finches feasting on tree seeds. The boardwalk (really just two parallel planks) and paths were very slippery from rain and fallen leaves, but I managed to get home without a sprained ankle.

I hear ya. What really hit home for me was a recent halfway of the challenge post by zuzupetals, where she wrote about taking on challenges like this although they don't comply in any way with the already hectic lives we all lead with crazy schedules and a million other stressors.
I'm riding the high motivation wave right now, getting the exercise I've craved for months and being passionate on experimenting how I could get stronger and healthier. I know I will not complete this by the end of October, but it's okay. I know my nephew's 1-year birthday is coming up, and I know I'm going to devour the cake albeit it means getting off the no-dairy feat a day early. I might not be able to give up coffee cold turkey for a week without compromising an upcoming grant application. I see no harm in berry-picking one's way through the challenge and doing it at your own pace. I've resolved not to overachieve anything with this and that will have a stronger impact on my wellbeing than giving up gluten for a week.

I only fear my plea for a more reasonably placed bar will be realized only long after this challenge is over. One could experiment with stacking a core board on top of the steps though...

I genuinely hope the poor woman was photoshopped heavily to yield this distorted human version of a Bratz doll.
