Workout
on the run again
Had a wedding tonight, so I was determined to get in a good workout this morning. I finally convinced myself to get back on the treadmill for a run (after wimping out and elliptical-ing all week--not to disparage the elliptical, but I was doing it because I was avoiding runnign). I pumped out three miles like it was nothing--I was comfortable and in the groove.
Workout
another boring workout
And today I did the same, although I added ten minutes to the bike portion. I don't have that endorphin rush that I would after a run or a spinning class or my circuits, but I feel like at least I'm not diving headfirst into a vat of Doritos, which is what I am tempted to do.
Workout
boring workout
Still recovering from an emotionally draining week--still no resources to push myself in the gym. So I'm choosing easy workouts and just logging as many minutes as I can stand to. Yesterday I was on the elliptical for an hour and the bike for 25 minutes.
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday FLOG
Well this week went to hell. A miserable day Tuesday (bad meeting with my advisor) threw me off track for a couple days--I was basically just trying to get through, anything beyond that was too much. Feeling better now, and planning a big workout this afternoon.
Tuesday:
Breakfast: Ezekiel Toast
Lunch: Pho
Dinner: Pizza (whoops) and beer (uh-oh)
Workout
elliptical
1 hour on the elliptical. Couldn't handle anything requiring mental energy--just hopped on and zoned out.
Sunday/Monday flog
Sunday was my "cheat" day, and it went like this:
Breakfast: COFFEE! and a goat cheese croissant
Snack: Dark chocolate (for the SW-e-AT pairing, of course)
Lunch: Fish tacos
Dinner: umm, chicken wings and beer. Yup.
Moving on! Monday! Back on track!
Breakfast: Ezekiel toast with butter
Lunch: TJs roasted red pepper and tomato soup
Dinner: Caesar salad with baked potato wedges
sipping coffee and checking off feats
I made it! A week without sugar, caffeine, soda, booze, tea. And now I am sipping coffee (good coffee!) and nibbling on some dark chocolate so that I can add one more SW-e-AT challenge to my list.
Saturday Flog
Breakfast:
Ezekiel sesame bread with organic peanut butter
Postworkout snack:
Mango-peach smoothie with milk, yogurt and cardamom
Lunch:
quinoa salad with sweet potato
Snack: apple with peanut butter and slice of smoked cheddar
Dinner:
Sushi from Whole Foods (8 pieces)
Friday Flog
Strange eating day--lots of little meals.
Breakfast: hummus (strange, but it had to be eaten)
Lunch: apple, peanut butter (organic, no sugar), cheese
Dinner: Trader Joes' low fat bean burrito (again, no sugar)
Snack: Mango smoothie
Snack: stove top popcorn
Snack: apple, peanut butter, cheese

Still recovering from an emotionally draining week--still no resources to push myself in the gym. So I'm choosing easy workouts and just logging as many minutes as I can stand to. Yesterday I was on the elliptical for an hour and the bike for 25 minutes.
Workout
elliptical
1 hour on the elliptical. Couldn't handle anything requiring mental energy--just hopped on and zoned out.
Workout
elliptical
60 minutes. 10/3. 570 calories burned.
Followed by a peach/mango smoothie. 8/10.
Workout
midday run/circuit
Tore myself away from studies to knock out a 3 mile run at 5.2 (ended up at 5.5) followed by a circuit training session. The run felt good (until the end); the circuit felt tough. The walk home felt stressed out--got to find more time for studying!
Workout
zumba
This was my first time taking a Zumba class. I certainly worked up a sweat, and I'm going to go back next week, but I'm not sure I want to put this into my regular rotation, which would probably mean cutting back on one of my circuits for the week. Also, I'm hella uncoordinated, so there's that.
Workout
mahs feets hurts
What perfect timing! Today's SW-e-AT challenge was quinoa-feet. Tuesdays I hit the gym and watch The Biggest Loser while I walk on the treadmill. That's two full hours, 120 minutes, 7 miles. By the time I finish my feet are KILLING me so I head home and have my husband massage them. Now that is a foot feat.
Workout
spin span spun
Workout: 45 minute spinning class. This is my third time spinning, and the first time I was able to keep up the entire session--no sneaking a quick sit-down or anything. Feels good!

A spoonful of peanut butter goes great with an apple and provides a punch of protein.

While it's obviously fast food, and thus off-limits for me for the month, I do (outside of eat.sweat.blog) tend to think of Chick-Fil-A as just about the wisest fast food decision you can make. It seems so much fresher and healthier than the burger places, and I know that they use peanut oil and somewhat healthier ingredients. Plus, chicken isn't red meat. Sure, it's not health food, but when I need to eat "bad," I choose Chick-Fil-A. I just feel better after a chicken sandwich and waffle fries than I do after a double cheeseburger.

I did no sugar, no caffeine, and only water last week, and it feels so great to check off those feats! Good luck!

Trader Joe's sampled it once with sun-dried tomatoes and their cilantro dressing. I adapted that, replacing the dressing with some olive oil and adding suateed mushrooms/onions. With some salt and red pepper flakes, it's really tasty.

Do oils, spices, etc. count?

Haha, exactly--I was contemplating choking down a spoonful of raw oats just so I could say I did it, but I figured that wasn't really the spirit of the challenge. Glad you like the name!

Andrealc23, I'm delaying by a day because there's no way I can hold off on workouts/meal planning until noon. But I'll only delay by a day, I won't, say, do beets and butts in a week.

I'm only on East Coast time, but I'm also going to delay the SWeAT challenge by a day. I've been updating manically all morning thinking "Can I workout now? Now? How about now? And what's for dinner?? Aw crap, it's oats, I ate breakfast 3 hours ago!" So, I'll be maintaining my sanity and doing this a day behind.

Hm. I really like the idea of this challenge, but I'm a dedicated meal (and exercise) planner, and it's tough to reconceptualize my day if these pairing aren't posted til almost noon (East Coast time). Oatmeal would have been great for breakfast today. Would anyone object to a "day after" approach? As in, I'll eat my oats and work my abs tomorrow, and count it as one day down?

Sorry if this is a stupid question, but how can two people have accomplished this if you're supposed to do 10 of them in 10 days?
