the opposite of cake
It's possible that I'm coming down with a cold or just a bad case of ennui, but I spent all day today fighting the urge to leave the office early, get a piece of cake from Lifethyme, and curl up in bed with it. Instead I finished my day, went to the gym for half an hour, and drank a coconut blueberry juice before arriving home to make myself a dinner of kale, broccoli raab, and sliced tomato.

shut up and put your money where that juice is.
This isn't going to be one of those slow-fade sort of tales that end in heartbreak; I'm not going to wait until the end to disappoint you. I would like you to know from the start that I just ate an egg and tomato sandwich.

the one where i climb a lot of stairs.
Depending on how you approach life, Sundays are either for marathons of all kinds - movies, running, sleeping - or for having no structure at all. I'm of the latter camp, and when I woke up this morning at the ripe hour of 8am, I couldn't find it in my heart to motivate myself to do any kind of "power" anything.

there - now we can be friends again.
Inspired both by the fact that I wanted to visit the Union Square Greenmarket and that I had a New York Cares orientation in Cooper Square today, I did something that I'd planned to do alongside both events: I went to the gym.

feat-challenging your face off!
My memory is delightfully lax, and I paused this morning in mid-oatmeal-spoonful as I remembered that today was the day I was going to start a gluten-free week.
Luckily for me, the Oats and Abs challenge hit today, and so I'll be crunching merrily away whilst watching "Last Holiday" on a sort-of-lazy-ish Friday night. (Just to clarify, totally absolutely yes the Queen Latifah one.)
Workout
if you can't hit the gym...walk even faster?
I used to love the New York Sports Club. I used to visit it faithfully each day, losing myself in crappy television shows and revelling in weekends of Top Model marathons and E! True Hollywood Stories. I used to be inspired by the images of Gwen Stefani and Mary J Blige, and I'd work even harder while their songs played in my headphones.

if you can't run...then just walk really fast.
I have new headphones, and I have one of those little pocket things that wraps around your wrist and holds your keys. I know I'm for real this time because I bothered to seek out the wrist-pocket; previously, I assumed everyone just tucked their keys into their left sneaker as I do.

You DEFINITELY had the right idea with the low-sugar juices in mind; this was absolutely where I failed. I LOVE the juice guy at Lifethyme. The greens are where it's at!

I haven't and i might take you up on that! My problem honestly is that I fear I *will* like it, and I definitely can't afford a membership (my relationship with NYSC is founded solely on the basis that my company pays half.)
