Airport Blues, Take 2
I went to title this post "Airport Blues," only to find that I had already used the title. At least I'm consistent. (Deluded?) Well, the name still applies: finding non-fast food at an airport is like looking for a needle in a haystack.
Workout
Spinning Up a New Activity
Today I took a spinning class for my first time in years! I have been meeting up with a friend of a friend (I guess he's officially my friend now too) when I'm in Dallas for work, and this week we went to a spinning class at his gym. I like that it's instructor-led, because I would never do 60 straight minutes of cardio otherwise, unless I were on a run.

Workout
Interval Fever
Recently I read somewhere that it's much more effective (for weight loss) to work out in speed intervals than it is to just keep a steady pace for the same amount of time. I'm no fitness expert, but the idea makes sense... you have spurts of hard exertion and then periods of rest, but you keep your heart rate up the whole time.
Workout
Pilates: Take 1
I bought a Groupon (www.groupon.com) for 3 pilates classes at re:AB Pilates Studio in SoHo, so I decided to try it out this weekend. Fine, let's be honest, I'd been putting off trying it out because I was terrified. I'd never done pilates before, and I was just plain old intimidated. But I kept my chin up and bravely entered my first pilates class. And... it was EASY.
Airport Blues
So, I just realized that I have chosen an extremely difficult challenge for myself. How does one eat FAST FOODLESS at an airport?! Yikes! I fly a lot for work -- luckily only twice this month -- and airports make it hard enough to find good, healthy eats. On my flights out of NY to Dallas, I can at least bring food from home, so that's good. No fast food there.
Workout
My Return to Yoga, My Shoulders' Return to Pain
I skipped a few weeks of yoga (I try to go once a week), but I finally got myself back in gear last night and went down to Yoga to the People for the 7:30 class. (And I ran into a friend! I love that about YTTP.) My body was definitely hurting from being so out of yoga-shape, especially my shoulders and my neck. My joints have been cracking all day. Ick.
Workout
Walk to the Cure
Today's workout was a 10K... WALKED. A friend of mine has type 1 diabetes and is involved with the JDRF, which hosts amazing fundraising events for diabetes research. Today we walkers met up at 9am in Battery Park (perfect location for a weekend when the 4 and 5 trains are all out of whack...), and then we walked from there across the Brooklyn Bridge and back, which was supposedly a 10K.
