I just did 56 more minutes of Running and Walking!
Hi! Remember me?
Yeah. I'm not dead. And I have been working out. Most of the time. A lot has been going on and I have a lot to tell you about. But I didn't want SW to hit a big fat million without my contribution, so I entered the minutes I knew I hadn't logged yet. Because I earned my minutes. I might log more when I get to sit down and recount everything that's happened for you. And I'm gonna.

Boston Terriers may be psychic
It was not easy to motivate today. I spent the weekend at home with the Husband, doing largely very little, we leave for ComicCon in a week, and our schedules have been extra hectic lately, so the quiet time was extra nice. So going to work was difficult. Going to the gym after falling asleep on the bus home was harder. Sophie made it damn near impossible.

Yoga may be stronger than caffeine
You wrote, we like ~ the Eds.
I never thought I would say something like this, but it may very well be true. And I am a bona fide caffeine lover. I am totally and wholeheartedly addicted. I like it black. Nothing in it. That's the best way to have it. I woke up on Sunday morning thinking about a nice cold glass of strong black iced coffee. It was almost 9, but instead of walking to my favorite java joint, I walked the guest dog in residence.

Mystery Packages and the Magical Powers of In-N-Out
I was on the fence about working out on Friday. It's been a long week, and I was so tired, and since I happen to have the weekend off I was trying to talk myself into lying around tonight because I'd be active this weekend.
Then the Husband called as I was walking into the builiding to tell me he had procured my two Double Doubles from In-N-Out. In-N-Out makes him a popular man. He always tells me stories about how people try to buy my burgers from him when he walks through LAX. The people at one particular In-N-Out have become familiar with this routine and tell him he's the best Husband ever (He is). Well, my Double Doubles got him an upgrade on his flight yesterday. He was going to check in his carry-on because the bag o' burgers qualifes as a second package, and the staffer at the gate not only told him he could sneak the package in, he upgraded the Husband to business class! In-N-Out is magic!

Today's spin class was a pleasant surprise
I haven't been to a spin class on a Thursday afternoon since Kenny left. It's not on purpose really. I've just been working and it hasn't worked out. But today it did and I was looking forward to trying out one of Tomas's Rides. Lo and behold, he apparently had a sub and I got to try out someone named "Cici".

I think I was THAT person yesterday
I'm super sorry if you were in Glennie's yoga class at Crunch last night. I hustled in 5 minutes late yesterday. I tried to be as discreet as possible, but there really isn't any way to sneak into that particular studio. Work was a mess yesterday, and I just couldn't get out in time. I tried. I really did.

Catch Up Post: I work out on holidays
I was expecting fewer people to be at the gym on a holiday Monday. Danielle's 545 Ride was business as usual on Monday and I was there. I was happy to be at the gym. It felt better than sitting around and doing nothing on a holiday. Especially because this is a sit-around-and-eat-and-drink kind of holiday. Besides, I did the eating and drinking last week.

Catch Up Post: I ran to the World Cup
Kind of. I ran from my house and down the East River to meet The Husband and a friend at Loreley for the Germany vs. Argentina game. It felt good because I hadn't worked out for two days because a friend got married, and the night before that event involved a bachelorette party in which I drank entirely too much and smeared frosting on the bride, my purse and favorite blazer.

Catch Up Post: In which I return to yoga
And boy, did I miss yoga. Who am I? I wouldn't have said that a year ago. Because I'm posting this a week later, I don't remember a lot the specifics, but I do remember getting busted opening my eyes insavasana, and I feel kinda sheepish. Glennie also pushed my shoulders down a bit which made me wonder how much tension I'd actually let back into my body because I'd been away from yoga...

Spinning is hard
I like it because it is hard. I like it better when I'm good at it, though. I haven't been spinning for exactly two weeks. And not because I didn't want to. I hate it when life gets in the way of your workouts.

I feel much better about posting my minutes yesterday. I was going to crash because I've worked 7 days in a row now, but I think I'll be going for a run instead.

@sandyliz: It is that good. Is it better when it's hot and fresh right off the griddle? Yes, but even cold this seriously destroys anything some fast food joint could heat under a lamp..
@Oliver: I say yes! I'm flying Virgin next week, and I'm trying to calculate the number of burgers I can fit into my carry on..

With any luck, Dov Charney will be outed from his company for his fiscal and sexual irresponsibility. I haven't bought anything from them in a while; I'm so conflicted because I love their shirts, but I don't love him. Apparently, they also have ridiculously detailed dress codes and hiring practices in their stores. I like my mascara clumpy, thank you!

@Oliver: If it makes you feel any better, the reason we'll never have an In-N-Out in NYC is their distribution and quality standards. All their stores are within a specific radius of their warehouses, so all their food can be delivered fresh daily. The company buys their beef directly from slaughterhouses that sign contracts prohibiting the use of downer cows. Then, their own staff of buchers inspects whole sides of chuck before they accept them, then bones, grinds and preps the meat. They also have some of the best employment practices in the state of California, if not the country. There is a reason Eric Schlosser gave them a hearty thumbs up. If you want to know more, In-N-Out Burger: A Behind-The-Counter Look At The Fast Food Chain That Breaks All The Rules was an amazing read.
The Husband may have to fly more than I'd like for work, but this is a nice perk..

Team Undies pour moi. I wear a thong though, because I like my clothing to stay in place and briefs have a way of finding ways into places they shoudn't be. Getting a wedgie when you're doing jumps in a spin class is particularly uncomfortable...
