Workout
let's do this thing
Right. So the million mile workout thing coincides pretty nicely with my need/ desire to ramp up, in general, and get some shit done.
Place:
YMCA - Dodge
Workout
cosmo.
Have you guys read Cosmo lately? It is terrifying.
I went to the gym today without reading material -- gasp -- and flipped through Cosmo. It certainly was distracting:
32 minutes
2.25 miles
190 cals burned
a whole lot of meters climbed.
But seriously, the romantic advice: "Clutch your man's bicep and say 'wow'?"
Workout
thinking of becoming a morning person
Not an early morning person, mind you, but a 9:30/ 10a.m. at the gym sorta person. Because my brain only fully wakes up after I exercise.
32.5 minutes
2.15 miles
180 calories
100 meters climbed (incline setting, treadmill)
70 situps (!)
Place:
YMCA - Dodge
Workout
non exciting title-- but hurrah for spring!!
2.1 miles yesterday, 180 calories burned, 31 minute workout.
gorgeous today!!
Place:
YMCA - Dodge
Workout
basic walk
31 minutes, 180 calories, 4.0 pace, 1.0 incline.
Place:
YMCA - Dodge
Workout
midday workouts rule
36 minute walk, 180 calories burned, 2.25 miles, 50 situps. Sticking to every-2-day plan. Happy. Nice to have this site so I am accountable in a funny way...
Workout
what's most embarrassing...
... about those 15 minute miles is not the fact that you can't sustain a 10-minute mile pace because you will have an asthma attack befitting one of the Nerds from Nerds.
Nor is it the goofy headband you choose to wear that you don't soak with even a speck of sweat because you weren't breaking one.

@A: The way my gym is set up is such that a long queue of would-be treadmill runners forms waiting for those on the machines to finish. I'm not the only one being examined.
@S I totally don't care, either, but can be susceptible to writerly hyperbole.
@B Being old is going to rule.

@lrcat22: I know, right? It would be totally "yogic" to be chill about this sort of thing, but I reckon it's the studio's responsibilty to update its site (these guys were lax about it), especially if the studio is a 20 minute walk in freezing weather. Such things can harsh yoga mellows pretty quickly.
@sassletics82: mm. true, but... I go to yoga in part because it's something I count on being somewhat similar in structure, week to week, and I need the mental balance it provides. It's comforting in the same way your favorite meal at a favorite restaurant is comforting. That's just me, though.

Yoga's amazing for just how different the classes can be. And how insanely different the emotional responses can be depending on instructor/ vibe. I don't think people who haven't tried it realize how much it can turn a day around.
Cynical note: The photos on SW of the yoga event at MOMA? I would have LOATHED that. I hate having my mat inches from someone else's. You're always knocking into them during sun salutations, and then there are turf wars which are extremely not yogic, and... and... am I alone on that?

dude. in touch weekly is not the place for womanly advice. or any advice. even the fashion advice is awful. (so says the chick whose gym outfit is belinda carlisle-80s).

This is true, but it likely would have been better for my mental, if not physical, health if ITW was not the only reading material available at the local Y. It's good to know "which celeb baby mommies are looking hottest" these days, though. haha.

as per the calories, I'm more doing this to keep my head on straight. not much of a calorie counter! but nice to hear the support.
