What's the Worst Item to Forget to Bring to the Gym?

Socks, Bras, iPod, and Hair Bands

You rummage around your bag, but there's no sports bra to be found, so you're working out sans support, and if you want to go out after the gym as planned, you're going to have to blow dry and douse your bra with spray-on deodorant. Yuck. Or you forget your hair elastic and are left trying to tie your hair in a knot and secure it with a pencil, which of course doesn't work. Or your iPod is absent from your bag and you're stuck listening to the buzzkill of a whirring treadmill. Or you fail to pack your gym socks and face two bad choices: Going sockless (blisters!) or wearing your argyles with your sneakers (embarrassing!) All unfortunate items to forget, but which one is really the worst?

If I was a man, it would not be the ipod, but rather the HEADPHONES.  That's the absolute worst...when the ipod is just taunting you.

why is social workout turning into a women's interests website? hi. i'm a man. thanks.

sorry about that Mohawk. I know hair elastics and sports bras are all girly, but argyle socks was a man shout out!

Sports bra, but a very close second is shower shoes.

There's nothing worse than getting in a really intense workout and then realizing you have to choose between meeting your friends while drenched in your own sweat or risking a myriad of unpleasant foot maladies by venturing shoeless into the community showers. (I always opt for drenching a whole bunch of paper towels and then covertly wiping down in a bathroom stall. the ever-glamourous life of a gym-goer).

my google image search shows a lot of long-legged women rocking argyles. I'd say at best they're unisex.

Maybe I'm getting nostalgic about the days when social workout ran a short on MMA fighting. Now we're purse rummaging? Is there ever going to be a men's interest column?

am I the only one here who has arrived at the gym and realized they'd forgotten pants? because there's really no recovering from that one.  I also routinely forget shoes, which is a big reason why I like yoga and dance classes.

seshat -- no, I've done both. barefoot and in jeans workouts are all the rage these days.

when i (very rarely) work out in the mornings, i bring my work clothes with me to the gym. i almost always forget something i plan on wearing to work, which is pretty rad.

It sucks to forget your lock. I never want to be that girl who drags a bunch of junk all over the gym.

Shoes!  Because then you have to literally turn around, tail in legs and head home...Unless there happens to be a yoga class.  So then I guess forgetting pants.

I keep forgetting my iPod headphones and it really really sucks. I would rather forget my shoes/pants/etc. because then at least I'm forced to either go home and fetch them, or just go home. And I would rather have no workout than a workout without my Bollywood hits playlist.

I forgot my pants before a spin class.

I had padded biking underwear so I did the class in that.

Mohawk, you want more men's interest, get more men on the site.

All the ladies of social workout would appreciate it.

Oh man, I couldn't agree more with RachelNYC. Not having a sports bra is unacceptable and taking a shower with no shoes is just dreadful! One time I took a shower standing on a towel and then slid the wet towel all the way back to my locker so my precious toes didn't have to touch the floor!

I remembered to bring my sports bra but I forgot to wear it yesterday and it was OK. Not a deal-breaker. Socks, on the other hand, would be. I think I could manage with a rubber band from the admin assistant for my hair, and I would be sad without my iPod, but again, maybe I could borrow one.

shorts. or workout pants. either way, it was a dealbreaker for working out. i walked back home and was very sad. i've forgotten socks (went without), a shirt (bought one at the gym), sports bra (worn the bra i was wearing), ipod (very silent workout, not totally sucky). but the shorts were the one thing i just couldn't manage to get around it. even tho the peeps above are saying jeans at the gym are all the rage, i'm not that girl.

The WORST thing to forget is CLEAN UNDERWEAR for after your shower. I did it last week and had to make some really difficult decisions between the shower and getting home to clean hipsters at home.

The benefits in most cases outweigh these problems. This is because large archives bring in far more users who in turn watch more media, leading to a wider audience base and more advertising revenue.
