Yoga vida IS MY Vida I have been a yoga practitioner for a while, and bounced around a few places in the city, but Yoga Vida NYC is my new favorite studio. I have never felt so at home in a studio so quickly. The vibes are 100% positive all around, the space is beautiful, and the lounge area makes me feel comfortable enough to hang out before or after class and fully enjoy my entire yoga experience.
Big day- needed focus! I LAUNCHED MY NEW WEBSITE TODAY!!! www.llavesdesigns.com I also had one of those weekends where I may or may not have been watching the sun rise with a younger man from my new fire escape... so I REALLY needed some Yoga Vida.
Crappy Work Day Cure You wrote, we like ~ the Eds. When 2 o'clock rolls around and you find another coworker trying to sabotage you while the incompetent office manager asks you to unjam the printer again, don't cry like I generally want to. No no no, just plan on getting the hell out of there by 5pm with enough to make a yoga class, where you are greated with smiles and faces of people who don't make you doubt your existence on this planet.
screw being sad, i'm gonna own this emotion and tell it to f' off. So I did just that and headed to do some yoga to my vida where Hilaria made me happy with lots of Michael Jackson. Then met an old friend for drinks.
Is the desire to run the reason I can't sleep past 8? So I woke up at 7 AM and couldn't fall back asleep, I am incapable of sleeping past 9 AM... a new thing that started about 3 weeks ago. I tossed on my running shoes and took a nice overcast morning run down to the new Brooklyn Bridge park. I sprinted up the hill at Tillary and realized the wind was totally against me as I felt my breath getting a bit more intense than usual at a mile in.
I dig chics with scars. Wherein this week's Featured Body, Llaves, wonders what happens once you nail warrior? I went to Yoga Vida today, got hassled cause it's been almost 2 weeks which is entirely too long, and then set up shot next to the window. I was super early cause I had to get out of the office. Then this little muffin of a girl and her father sat next to me, she was the cutest. We chatted a bit and then I realize her Dad wasn't that bad looking either. Is is wrong of me to have a thing for hot dad's? It all started when I moved into Fort Greene... this place is littered with them.
Squeezing Out the Ouch I went to Yoga Vida today after work, hoping to squeeze out the insane amounts of lactic acid that have been building up in my muscles since yesterday's session with Jeff. I'm not sure that I was successful at easing the soreness, unfortunately, since I still struggled with the subway stairs (oh god tomorrow is going to blow), but the class was amazing. So delicious. Hilaria w
More yoga Catch up post- went back to Yoga Vida last night with sass, bff, and friend Amanda. Thought that arm week would be over but apparently Sunday was the end of arm week, so my shoulders today feel a little like jelly. But lovely class- candles, live music, good friends, and ice cream after!
waking up in manhattan with sore abs So yesterday was well... epic.
Finally! A Workout! It's been weeks (nearly 1.5) since I've had an actual, certifiable workout. That's approximately 1.3 weeks too long. Today, in light of my injured self, I made it out of work in time for Yoga Vida's 6:00 Flow class. The focus today was on arms, which was great because my lower body is all sorts of out of whack and the focus on triceps and biceps was perfect. I did approx
Yoga vs. Booze I've had a hell of a week. Like a real winner. It's been awful and it's only Wednesday. Yesterday, I planned to go to yoga, stretch and be happy. But then everything hit the fan and I opted to hit the 2 for 1 happy hour hard. Yes, the booze beat the yoga in a landslide.
Friday Yoga I love it, love it. That's really all there is to say. Good friends, good times, good stretches...then beer. Ahhh weekend.
Running from the IRS Every week, we're highlighting one of the great minds and bodies in our Social Workout community. This week's "Featured Body," a New Year's Challenge champ and hard-core Feralicious finisher, the ever resilient sassletics82. Look for her workouts on the homepage all week. TAXESSSSS mofos I hate it!!! SENT! Then I went to teach my 11 year olds to act and they were NO SHOWS!!! What is this? Dating? Grrr... I hope I get paid for class even though the kids are on Spring Break and thought there were no classes. We REALLY needed to rehearse those damn fables.
Savasanna is my favorite part of my day So little NYU Yogi next to me in class, please don't ruin it by getting your mat up and leaving class early. You came late too... isn't that illegal like in Church and how you can't take communion if you miss a part of mass?? But I digress.
yoga to my vida did flow with ms. sass tonight... it's an all about hips kinda week and we did frog pose again. At the end of class this girl made a connection with the desire to conquer frog pose and everything coming to peace in the world. It was cute to dream :) Then dinner with sass and now nap.
Can't walk down stairs so I'll buy myself a present to cope... Damn, I sassed myself yesterday with those hours of exercise. I can't walk down the stairs from joggin quads. So....I alos was pretty hopeless doing upper body stuff today from my crazy arm workout yesterday.
I just rocked my first warrior arm bind EVER!!! Yeah, it was awesome and I was about to yell out to Sass to turn around and I realized it was likely a terrible idea. Being all sorts of stoked about my bind (mind you with the most sore arms I have ever had due to all the damn dips and pull up prepping) I was on fire with some feralicisousness.
Humor & Yoga In a week's time, I've fallen in live with Hillaria at Yoga Vida. Seriously, she's great. Her classes are inspiring, different, and challenging. She's also funny. Today she told us as we struggled in the warm and crowded room to balance in warrior 3 that if we fell we should have some humor. "It's Wednesday," she said with a hint of a smile, indicating that if we c
just the tip. Killercadoogan and I had big plans for today -- do our last long run before the 1/2 in 2 weeks. Well, needless to say, it was Saturday morning and we wasted a lot of time getting out of the house. So, our planned 10 mile run around the lower tip of Manhattan turned into more like 8 1/2 miles since I had to meet Sass and Llaves for Restorative Yoga. The run was...ok.
I'm Pooped. I had running class this morning and I wasn't the worst one there! Close to it...yes for sure...but not the worst. It was interesting and maybe even beneficial. We spent most of the hour doing ankle/calf drills but we probably ran about a mile and a half all together and neither my shins, nor my ankles, nor my knees hurt. Huh, maybe there is something to his system.
Dirty Dancing Yoga was Incredible! I owe a big, huge thank you to Sass for her suggestion to go to Dirty Dancing theme yoga at Yoga Vida tonight. I'd been wanting to try it after reading her rave reviews, realizing it was totally affordable, and understanding that it's literally around the block from my office. After the week I had, I wanted a yoga winner (and you all helped get me there with your amazing suggestions
