Sunday catch-up Sweet Angie's Sunday vinyasa class. How I love thee. Revolved triangle, revolved ardha chandrasana -- my IT band and piriformis thank you.
Sunday Yoga Post Another fantastic class with Angie at Shambhala Yoga! Challenging, stretchy in all the right places, and always guaranteed to work your abs.
I am so tired right now! Yoga day, park day, hula hoop day, watching a stoner movie day, compiling taxes day, invitation shopping day, pedicure day...
Samba and Trivia As planned, after a day of rest I made it to Leticia's samba class for my last Rhythm and Ritual requirement and an hour and a half of sweaty jumping around to Caco's beats and whistles.
Samba!! is hard!! Especially when you dance salsa and are used to starting by stepping FORWARD with your right foot instead of stepping BACK! Dancing samba is a total mindf*ck that way!
Samba! Usually if I take a dance class I don't count it as a "workout", but tonight's Samba class with Leticia Taylor at Shambhala Yoga and Dance Center was definitely more aerobic than I'm used to. Leticia was a great teacher, the class was spectacularly fun but also extremely strenuous, and we had live Brazilian drumming the entire time thanks to her friend Caco.
Ritual, Rhythm, and Traffic Clocked in my 1st ritual & rhythm feat with 11am Vinyasa with Angie at Shambhala Yoga. Following yoga, I removed the coats and other hanging things from my bike (sadly, it has been acting as a makeshift coatrack for months), pumped air into both limp tires, and took it out for a lap around the park.
Sunday Morning Yoga I heart the 11:00 am Sunday yoga class at Shambhala. Even though my hips and hamstrings ached and my body buzzed from a melatonin hangover, this morning's class was as good as ever.
Dancing, Yoga, Drumming Combo post of the last 24 hours:
First yoga of 2010... Vinyasa I/II with Marisa Sako, at Shambhala Yoga and Dance Center. A lot of hip openers (malasana, bakasana, pigeon, runners lunge, ardha chandrasana), which somewhat helped with my post-midnight-run overall leg soreness. Followed it up with a 1 hour massage, manicure and pedicure.
Slightly buzzed yoga I started Saturday morning with yoga at Shambhala, recognizing the sensation of alcohol still running through my veins while in child's pose. Blood alcohol leveling FAIL.
Back-to-Yoga week - day nine 11am Vinyasa I/II with Angela - good class! Loving the ab work; it's nice to strengthen along with all the stretching. Naughty flog: apple tart with ice-cream (shared with Dad last night), wine, linzer tea cookie (this morning) Chanukah day 3 - 3 pushups
Back-to-Yoga week - day four Started the day with 7:00am yoga at Shambhala for the morning "Sun Celebrations" community class. For a donation class (and even for a non-donation class), it totally rocked. This time another woman subbed for Sarah, but it was still Laughing Lotus-y (without the tea and cookies). Hit the gym later last night for a hardcore arm workout. Grrrr.
Back-to-Yoga week - day two Sunday morning began with the 11am Vinyasa I/II class with Angela. Definitely more challenging and choreographed than Sarah's class, but the same kind of Laughing Lotus vibe. Ran into an old friend from summer camp before class, whom I recognized only because we're Facebook friends. Biked to and from Williamsburg after to drink beer and listen to Beatles songs.
Back-to-Yoga week - day one I started "Back-to-Yoga" week on Saturday, the day after nfolkert left for San Francisco. I figured that if there's ever a time to commit to a yoga class every day for a week, it's when your BF is out of town!
Broccoli tastes best with Salsa For my second SW-e-AT pairing of the challenge, I present you fine people with broccoli (courtesy of Weight Watchers) and intermediate II salsa class (courtesy of my favorite dance studio ever, Shambhala
6 by 6:15am - Day Two OK, so I really could've slept in (until 6:30am), but Nate was getting up for spinning so we set the alarm on my phone (the TMobile G1 "Rooster" Alarm) for 6:15. Again. Instead of going with him (seriously, I loved spinning in college but now I detest it -- especially since I already bike about 15 miles a day), I checked out the 7am community yoga class at Shambhala Yoga and Dance...
Catching Up Another catch-up post after my busy end week. Saturday morning was pretty active. Started out by completing the weights I'd missed on Friday as well as adding a couple of extra exercises to make it a full workout.
