Definitely feeling a little out of sorts First yoga class in almost a week, and I felt a bit more wobbly than usual. Not sure if it was the hiatus or the fact the instructor was putting lots of emphasis on making sure our pelvis was tilted forward. That automatically made all the poses harder. Also did my first prep work for scorporion pose. Well, I attempted to get my shins against the wall but couldn't quite
best yoga class ever? It was a great class in general, but a few random things made it memorable. First cerie from 30 rock was in my class. Second, my instructor squeezed my butt to show me what muscle i needed to be working during half moon pose. I almost bust out laughing. Anyways, very entertaining end to an otherwise annoying day.
Rain rain go away Braved the rainstorm today and did a quick workout. I'm enjoying the interval workouts and did a 30 min one today. While I was on the treadmill, I saw a girl at the pull-up bar. She did 3 sets of 10 pull-ups. It was crazy impressive and has inspired me to try the 20 pull-up challenge. Wish me luck (especially because I failed at the 100 push up challenge).
hooray for friday Finally felt like I took advantage of my half day friday! I didn't make it to the DMV (maybe next week), but I did run some errands and make it to the gym. I did another interval workout - 30 miin, 1 min intervals, 6:53 min sprints and walks. Then I did some sun salutes to stretch out and add to my total for socialworkout2 because I'm sick of getting daily emails telling me I'
felt so good to be back in yoga I haven't been able to catch a yoga class since last wed, so I was really glad to be back. We did lots of sun salutes, at least more than we usually do in this class. My teacher just got back from a weekend retreat so I think he was inspired by being there. After class, a girl came up to say hi. I didn't recognize her at first, but then realized it was a friend of a frie
Wednesday Cardio Once a month we have these stupid meetings at work where several members of my department meet with our Executive Director and they are painful. Yesterday's was supposed to be from 5 to 6 which would prefectly line up with going to Arms Abs and Assets, and when it hadn't started by 5:30 I thought we were in the clear and it would get cancelled. I was wrong.
yes final catch up post I remembered i did in fact go to yoga last Thurs. I only remember because I went out after with a friend and we both got ridiculously drunk. Maybe that's why I had such a hard time remembering in the first place...
If I just keep going... ...I can run another half mile. I just have to remind myself of this when I get tired quickly and almost decide to bail (or just shift into an easier speed). So today I pushed myself to run an extra half mile on 30 minutes on the treadmill and then did 15 minutes on the elliptical.
quick catch up post 75 min yoga class. Don't have time to be thoughtful, but my instructor made a great analogy during class. He said when faced with a mountain, not many people would want to be transported directly to the top. You go for the climb. Yoga is the same. You wouldn't want to just be good at everything because the process is part of the fun, and makes it so much more grati
Legs is tired I tried to go to yoga today after work, but I couldn't get out on time. So instead, I ventured to NYHRC for some treadmill time. My legs are definitely a little sore (to say the least) from the past two days, so I took it easy. 40 minutes of running and walking on the treadmill, followed by 20 minutes of walking to the train.
Taking advantage of half day friday I walked around a ton after getting out of work at 1 and still managed to make it to the gym for a quick run on the treadmill and pilates. The pilates class was fun and challenging, though a bit easier than the other class I've been taking. I'm really glad I got something in though since this weekend is promising to be alcohol heavy...
Sandbox yoga That's the term my instructor used today to describe the class. We did lots of partner work and just played around for quite a bit with different poses. It was a lot of fun. We did assisted hand stand practice (I got up by myself but wasn't quite as successful as last time since I didn't have that guy coaching me thru it), we did this downward dog to upside down V type shape t
usual weekend kickoff Went to yoga this morning. I guess the gorgeous weather kept people outside because although there were a lot of people in class it wasn't nearly as crowded as usual. We did lots of twists and balancing. Overall great class.
Pre-world cup yoga Went to yoga this morning. I was surpised how crowded it was with the world cup final today, but I guess everyone was trying to be good before the game. It was an intense class, and we did a lot of balancing poses. Class ended with an extra long savasana. Someone fell asleep but thankfully wasn't snoring too loudly haha.
BYOB won't foil my workout plans I was out last night for a farewell dinner. It was BYOB and let's just say things ended quite drunkenly. In spite of having too much fun, I managed to get up and make it to yoga this morning. Class was PACKED. The instructor is really good and his popularity shows. The class is always really challenging and it's a wonderful way to start the weekend.
The trick is learning to fall...but gracefully I have one yoga teacher who always says something to that effect. Generally when she is trying to get us to practice inversions in the middle of the room. It is a concept I have yet to master. Mainly because I have this thing where I don't want to break my neck.
My muscles sound annoyed but they're really happy It's such a beautiful day today and I started it out with yoga. I'm a little sore from my glorious return on Thurs, but I soldiered through it. The teacher talked about not seeking out quick results because change happens slowly and there is always room for refinement. I tried to meditate on that during class especially because I had trouble getting into a few poses.
