yoga in the morning, running in the evening I love Sundays! Plenty of time to laze about and still get in plenty of minutes for MMM. This morning, I went for a nice Slow Flow Yoga. With my whole effeminately macho 100 Mile Month, I haven't been doing as much yoga. I think that might be what's causing the pain in my knees. Today I was much tighter than usual, and I realized it had been over three weeks since
running, belly dancing, and I get a hug for shimmying well! 6 mile run this morning, about 4.5 miles in I stopped to do a belly dancing class at Lululemon. I am a terrible dancer, but I can shimmy! I think all that fast-twitch muscle training back when I was a sprinter really helps with the quick body shimmying. I was also able to hold the shimmy while dropping down onto my toes and sitting in a squat. Farasha was so excited to s
pure barre - fun but uneventful I went for another Barre class this morning. Overall, I'm liking Barre. I've got no coordination and Barre requires close to none, while still providing the sleek lines that sexy dancers get. How ideal!
pure barre According to Charity's fabulous Men's & Women's Health summaries, Pure Barre will score me a trimmed and toned shape. Well, I would looove a timmed and toned shape, so what great timing to discover that the brand new Barre Las Vegas is spon
muay thai morning So I finally got to do Muay Thai after months and months of telling myself I needed to get out and try it. It was fantastic! Since it was almost all beginners, we did a lot of form practice and technique, but by the end I had worked up a solid sweat. Sadly, David wasn't there for post-class yoga so I didn't get to talk to him about back stretches, but James, who is a
yoga and a run My body has been feeling completely worn out lately, so I've been trying to rest a little more these last few days. I went to yoga this morning expecting another moksha-inspired class like the one I took two weeks ago, but there was a sub and we ended up doing something more like pranayama. I'm not sure of the exact terminology, but it was with much more focus on breath. The c
acrofit Tried out something competely new and different (for me, at least) - Acrofit. It's a mix of yoga, martial arts, and acrobatics. It was so awesome! Jumping around, doing cartwheels, headstands, somersaults, all the fun stuff I haven't done in ages. The classes are even held at the yoga studio within the Whole Foo
more of that moksha-inspired yoga that I love so much No really, I love this. I still haven't had a chance to get down to the real studio to try moksha in a heated room, but I'm really liking the movements and sequences. Today I had a great practice, too. I balanced pretty well, unlike my normal wobbly, klutzy self. I was even able to go a little deeper into poses than I ususally can. And I broke a sweat, and my heart
moksha-inspired yoga So to get more publicity out about the new Moksha studio in town, Lululemon is having Moksha month, and every Sunday is a Moksha- (and one Bikram-)inspired class, so we the people can learn a little more about the poses without the heat. Mark taught this week, and he was GREAT! I felt so good after the class, and I'm looking forward to trying out their studio this week. Unfort
Rise and Shine Yoga Sundays have become a favorite of mine, since I get to head down the street a few blocks to Lululemon, where I get a very different yoga class every week. This week Don was back for a great Vinyass Flow class that left me wanting more. Luckily, his new studio, Yoga Central, is up and running at Sahara and Jones.
