rain, shine, and excellent company I rested a few days since my knees are acting up, and today my sinuses said running was a no go. My brain and my body are fighting like maniacs! Finally, I went for a nearly day-long walk with my mom, with an hour lunch break. 4 hours of walking! We spent part of that time waiting on lines, so we did squats. Interestingly, we didn't get many stares for that one.&nb
my stomach can only fit so much pizza My stomach is rioting. I gave in to a pizza craving last night when my boyfriend finally wore me down enough to agree to delivery. It was so salty and delicious, until today! I sort of stumbled through 3 miles...but now I just want to lie down for a little while. I think I'm making myself feel worse by telling myself it's all my fault...becuase it totally is! Note
so many miles today... With all the lazy and grumpy that's been going on in my brain - and seriously, for no reason, I've inexplicably just been in a funk for about the last week - I finally whipped my butt into gear and got plenty of mileage in today. I went for a 9mi run in the morning before work, which means I finally got up when my alarm went off!
The 100 Mile Month So while I was sitting around yesterday afternoon, I decided I would make April the 100 Mile Month - I'll run 100 miles between the 1st and the 30th. Now, this wasn't the most well thought out plan, since I took off both the 2nd and 3rd, and April has 30 days, not 31. But spring has sprung, and like I wrote yesterday, we're going to be in pretty sinfully painful heat in a very short
you all may love this Spring weather, but I want my winter back! Every Spring, I always forget the sudden dryness that collapses over the valley. Not that it's ever really humid out here, but spring just feels even drier than other seasons. In summer, it's generally too hot for me to even notice the lack of moisture in the air. I know how odd that may sound. I usually drink plenty of water (around 140-150oz per day) but it takes my bo
Strip running, welcome April! I went for a wonderful Strip run this morning, just over 6mi. I went about 1min/mile faster than normal, which was a total shock to me. There were a lot of quick runners out today, I must have subconsciously tried to catch up with them!
I wore my lululemon running shorts for today's run, and boy did my tush look good I knew I would be sitting on my bum all afternoon at a conference so this morning I aimed to get in a good, solid run. I've been floating in and out of sickness, soreness, and other nonsense since the half 2 weeks ago, and this morning seemed as good as any to get back to business. I did a just over 6 mile run on my regular route on the LV Strip. It was a gorgeous morning, jus
keeping up with a pregnant lady It turns out that doing jumprope class is killer on the calves! I probably could have figured that one out, but it slipped my mind until I tried to move the next morning.
"rest" day, part deux 1mi power walk to get my body moving, plus some core work. Again, boring but got the blood flowing and kept me from (contradictory as it sounds) going stir crazy by relaxing.
body relaxation, taper week is finally here! I did my last long training run yesterday, and today began my taper week before Saturday's race. Today, I felt like moving so instead of slow flow yoga, I went for a power walk. To the chocolate store. Yeah, that's right, to the chocolate store. I wanted to meet my new twitter friend in real life, and she works there. She gave me a few free truffles to take home.
last long Strip run for a while Not that I won't be running the Strip at all whatsoever, but once the race is over I plan to go back to shorter runs and try out the hardcore hot yoga lifestyle. :)
My SPIbelt makes me look cool Speedy 5.8mi today, but I had to hurry off to the shower and work before I could do my strength training. I'll have to take a page out of joesgirl's book and fit the 1,000s into office time. (ha! pay me to look good, bossman!).
kicking it off with a growl 5.6mi run, total time 55min, including 5 min of sprinting. This includes time spent stretching, doing stairs, and waiting for stoplights. I jog in place when I'm at the stoplight, but stretching isn't cardio, obviously. So I guess...about 52min of actual cardio to go towards the feat? I'll wait to input on the feat page until the minutes vs.
i have got to stop listening to the weather forecast It was supposed to start raining at 8am this morning. I got up extra early, on a Saturday(!), so that I would only hit the tail end of the rain. I didn't even manage to get going until about 7:30, but I figure, I've run in snow before, how bad could a little rain be. I get all dressed up in layers, and it didn't rain for the over 10 mile run!
Tips for Running the Las Vegas Strip Every week, we're highlighting one of the great minds and bodies in our Social Workout community. This week's "Featured Body," the pride of Las Vegas: babarbanel.
dum de dum, another run 7.91 mi, LV Strip. I wanted to tack on the little Sahara loop (about 0.7mi) but I got a nasty side cramp right before I got back to my starting point so I just ended there. Also, I need to stop eating cookies until after the race, as I can definitely feel them when I dig in for my final kick. :)
Strip running (location, not clothing status) some more Strip running, and I got out a little later today so no walk of shame sightings. It's such a bummer, they are far more fun to go running with than tourists who walk 6 in a row to block the whole sidewalk. Go three and three! It's not just me who wants to get by, anyone going the other direction can't get around. Silly fools.
who's in vegas for the superbowl? did you reserve your seat at the book? :)
Strip run and baptiste yoga 8.31 mi run, from about Sahara/LV Blvd to the 4 seasons. I paused with about a mile left to pop into Lululemon for their Sunday morning class. Today was Zeek, who did a Baptiste yoga class - it was really, really nice. Lululemon really brings in great instructors. I also found out that this Zeek is the same Zeek I saw on the schedule at my gym so I'm really excited to se
walking the Strip I was intending to take the day off, so instead of a big ol' run, I did a race walk pace about 4.75 miles up and down the Strip. The people watching was quite fun. And I stopped in the Vosges chocolate store. It's amazing! The walk was a nice relaxing release from my 6mi run yesterday and should set me up for an easier run tomorrow. Naughty Flog:
