Steamed Kale at the Gym!!! Popped out of the office to hit the gym at lunchtime. Crammed in 40 minutes on the elliptical (my knees were bothering me after last night's longish run) and 10 minutes of abs and stretching.
guerilla cardio Was supposed to have a session tonight with my trainer, but he needed to cancel, so I thought I'd do some cardio this morning... but then I went to bed too late so I got up too late... so I brought my basic workout gear to work... snuck out in the middle of the day, got in my cardio and now I'm back at work, eating a late lunch! Oh yeah!
Elliptical + Bike Was sore from Speedball, so I just did some easy cardio today.
Speedball with Steve Feinberg Thursday afternoon Speedball with Steve with workout partner #2. Only the second time I did this class... I prefer Steve's kettlebell class, because they leave me feeling stronger, and they're easier on my knees. But Speedball was fun! And my glutes were feeling it for days after.
30-60-90 again... Very crowded class last night at Wall St. Tough, too - maybe tougher than her hour-long class at Greenwich Ave on Tuesday afternoon. My back hurts today!
Not the start I wanted to the MMM, but a start nonetheless. So I have been really down the last two days-- stuff at work wearing on me, and generally not feeling great physically either. Both knees and my right ankle have been driving me a little nuts. As such, I fell off my plan to exercise every day in April. As my husband said, "who cares if you only exercise 27 days out of 30? That's not a failure!" But here at joesgirl
One Hand in the Air for the Big City! So just got back from a mid-day run at Equinox. Right before I left to go there, I had an encounter at work that was more than a little stressful, as well as confusing. It's part of a long, ongoing saga, not really appropriate for posting on the web, but suffice it to say that I was feeling rather out of sorts when I stepped on the treadmill despite my newfound love of running.
BLAST in the morning, about to play tennis! Only my second time this year doing a double workout... can't wait! Reminds me of when I trained for tennis season in high school....
On the Voice in My Head and Grinning Like a Stupid Idiot on the Treadmill You wrote, we like ~ The Eds. So, maybe this is the moment that I have finally truly lost it in my recent saga of trying running for the first time ever, but at the moment that I came up out of the subway in lower Manhattan this morning and got hit in the face with sunshine, I heard a voice in my head that said "RUN." Not a zombie movie style voice, like AAAAAH!!!! RUN!!!!! HERE COMES JASON!!!!!-- just a plain old voice that said "RUN. GO RUN. WHY AREN'T YOU RUNNING? RUN. NOW. GO RUN."
Perhaps, after years of thinking it would never happen, I am finally becoming a runner?! Hit Equinox for an early lunch workout. Decided, after my little experiment with running on Saturday for the first time in years, that I would hop on the treadmill for a short but fast twenty minute run. About ten minutes into it, no joke, I was in heaven. Who knew?! And when it was over, I wanted MORE. I am really just amazed.
This is what you get for playing Sandstorm at spin tonight! I just can't help myself when I hear Sandstorm. I checked the mirrors in the spin studio and no one was fist pumping. It would have made the hills go a lot faster. There it is - I am obsessed with local, organic produce and can't get enough "Jersey Shore". A woman of contradictions, indeed.
A Challenging Spin Class I almost didn't make it to the gym tonight, made a whole bunch of excuses in my head including trying to convince myself to go running outside. However I bucked up and willed myself to the gym and boy am I glad I went! Spin was challenging and fulfilling. I followed it up with a bunch of situps and pushups. All in all, a good night
Lots of catching up on squats, push ups and sit ups I'm exhausted and I still have to get two loads of laundry out of the dryer. Ah! Went from the office to spin class. My legs still hurt from spin and pilates on Saturday, and they burned on every hill today. After spin, I worked on my feats for 45 minutes. Deciding to do plie squats with a 12 lb. body bar did not help the burning leg situation.
Madonna during pre-spin spinning is the best!!!!! The fans weren't working, so lots of sweaty feral beasts in class today. I put more resistance on my hills than usual, so I bet I will feel this in the morning. Hopefully not too much because I'd like to try to run on the path along the Hudson in the morning!
Trudging Through the Snow Can you tell me whether it is snowing or raining in NY, or is it snrain? I trudged through the snrain with my half broken red umbrella that couldn't stop flipping to get to my spin class. I've been a bit lazy over the past few days, mostly due to the pain in my arms after rock climbing.
Last Meatless Monday...of the Challenge but not forever I just enjoyed a wonderful Meatless Monday choc full of blueberry pancakes (yay, antioxidants), a quasi-healthy black bean bowl from Chipotle, and whole grain pasta with roasted vegetables. I think Meatless Monday is officially a habit, and it definitely does not feel as limiting as it did Week 1.
Day 22 - I just spent $80 at Century 21 on fancy running socks That confession made me feel much better. $80 for socks seems troubling somehow.... Much like my confession to a close friend earlier today that I had learned that my donations to Haiti from January could be deducted on my 2009 taxes from Perez Hilton.
Spin for Lunch Took a spin class with Daryl during lunchtime ---- sooooo AWESOME - he's now my favorite Spin Instructor !!!
Day 8 - Spin 'n Stuff (and absolutely delicious (and filling) vegetarian chili) Blah blah. Worked the holiday but got some "me" time. Today's Exercise 0. Day 3/20. I went to a spin class. There was a sub I didn't love but I was happy to be there nonetheless. Detox & Refuel 1. Locavore. Inspiration, New Yorkers? 2. Sugar free. 2/7. 3. Swap Meat. Weeks 1 and 2 done.
