I should be working right now but instead I'm procrastinating... ...Just as I did by going to the gym tonight. My foot is feeling a little wonky these days so I started on the elliptical listening to a little Ke$ha. Gotta love a girl with a dollar symbol in her name. I got bored of her and went digging through my iTunes library for some Jersey Shore episodes...except they got deleted on my last sync. What is a girl to do?
Apparently, my injured feet and tendons were not up for an hour of plyometrics Somehow I woke up on my own before 8 am this morning. Not like me at all, especially for a Saturday. I took advantage of it and made some whole wheat flax blueberry pancakes. Yum! There may have been turkey bacon involved. I also resolved to go to one of the classes I usually sleep through at Equinox Tribeca and realized there was a quick ab class beforehand. *Loved* the ab class.
Restorative yoga and a feralicious dinner Rushed from a work event to Eve's Restorative Yoga class. It was my first time trying the class and it was so relaxing. The music was great (included jazz!) and Eve was really helpful with poses.
Never get tired of Ashtanga Each class I find I can do at least one thing I couldn't do in the last. Today I almost bound in one of the poses. There was feet hand touching. Not full binding, but perhaps that will happen next class.
A little intenSati to start the month off I started March off with an intenSati workout hoping to ring in a month of profound inspiration. We shall see.
Sad Sad Day I went to a class with my favorite yoga instructor. The class was great as always, but then at the end of the class the instructor announced he was moving to San Francisco. How depressing. His classes inspire me. I am going to miss him. Thankfully, he doesn't leave until April 1st. I'm still sort of hoping it's an early April fool's joke.
Spinning with Greg Cooke vs. Darryl Gaines There is a threat on Facebook about best Spin Instructors in NYC. In the thread, the two most popular instructors are Greg Cooke and Darryl Gaines (disclaimer: I may have spelled their names wrong). If you have read any of my workout posts, I am a huge fan of Darryl but given the amount of people who love Greg, I had to try him.
Challenge Workout 20! I made it to 20 with time to spare. Hooray!
Day 24 - Working out makes me want to eat all the time Now that I'm getting into more of a groove with my cardio and have brought back lifting (as of today), some of my old routines have started feeling a little...routine...so I tried one of the FitSugar workouts today - Busy-Body Workout.
Day 23 - Couch to 5K is awesome! I usually go to the Equinox at Wall St. straight from work because I like the layout better than the one closer to home, which feels like a cardio wasteland. Tonight, the cardio wasteland seemed perfect, so I was shocked I got to Equinox Tribeca around 6:30 and the place was jumping! It also looks like they have the new spin bikes that Equinox Greenwich has, so that was a good development.
Hip Hop Dance Class 45 min of hip hop dancing - i'm not coordinated so I totally blew it but it was fun. not sure about how good of a workout it was.
Dripping Wet~!! I was dripping wet after Christine D'Ercole's Cyclosophy class. Was going to take speedball but so glad that I went spinning instead because she's awesome! Did 5 sun salutations this morning, 30 situps, 30 pushups. taking a bath tonight
Working off stress at the gym Have been working crazy hours and haven't been making it to the gym. I had a break today so I rushed over to Equinox I ran and walked on the treadmill for a half hour and then did one of the David Kirsch Sound Mind, Sound Body workouts (2x24):
Saturday morning speed workout Didn't allocate enough time to run errands, workout, eat lunch, get ready for friend's wedding and make it out to Brooklyn, so speed was of the essence: --Speed walk on errands to warm up --Sprint 1 mile on treadmill --Quick lift without resting b/c sets --Stretch while in line to pay for lunch
Beating boredom 15 minutes on the arc trainer 15 minutes on the treadmill ow - foot pain again - must resist the urge to run 2 sets of 20 from David Kirsch's Sound Mind, Sound Body: --Standard pushups --Plie squats with calf raises --Basic crunches --Oblique crunch --Reverse crunch --David's deluxe floor routine - highly recommend for anyone trying to shape hips - very painful
Back on the treadmill!!! And guac deliciousness.... Physical therapy went pretty well this morning, so I ran 3/4 of a mile on the treadmill and walked for a while. We'll see how things feel in the morning, but it felt really good to get off the bike and the elliptical.
Good times on the elliptical.... I miss running a lot. Pretending the elliptical is the next best thing... 5 min. - warm-up - level 2 resistance 5 min. - forward stride - level 10 resistance 5 min. - backward stride - level 6 resistance 5 min. - forward stride - level 10 resistance 5 min. - backward stride - level 6 resistance 5 min. - cool down - level 2 resistance
Shooting pains in my foot I walked for 45 minutes on rolling hills (on the treadmill anyway) while watching the U.S. Open. At around 40 minutes, I started getting shooting pains in my right heel. After I hit 3 miles, I hobbled off the treadmill to Whole Foods to getting the makings for dinner.
Back into it It's been a week since I worked out. Two weeks since I worked out hard. I'd like to blame work a fight with the sig other, but I have indeed just been lazy. I've been stressed and have been taking it out on myself further by not exercising. Anyway, I took today off from work and decided the long weekend would be a good turn around.
Legs and lifting Today is a non-running day. For cardio, I worked out on an elliptical with an average stride per minute of 120: 5 min. - warm-up - level 2 resistance 5 min. - forward stride - level 10 resistance 5 min. - backward stride - level 6 resistance 5 min. - forward stride - level 10 resistance 5 min. - backward stride - level 6 resistance 5 min. - forward stride - level 10 resistance
