and then there were 4 It's interesting how sometimes there are lots of people at parkour and others its just the regulars. Which is was happened tonight. There were 3 regulars and 1 new girl (who was cartwheeling over the vault like she was at gymnastics). We learned a new vault, the turn vault. You place both hands on the obstacle, jump both feet over and land facing the obstacle.
yesterdays workout Got up early and went to Prospect Park for running. I decided to stay back in level 1 for the duration of the class because level 2 is moving to 4 miles and I still have to walk a bit to finish a loop of the park. Level 1 is working on running the full loop. So I did a loop in 36 minutes. Walked back home. Later went to Parkour. CJ was there! There were only 4 of us.
Parkour firsts I still can't do the lazy vault, but today I got both feet over together and I am so close to getting it right. It was also the first time I did a con and got over the step. I've been going to parkour since January. Most people can do that on their first or second class. It just never worked for me, until today.
Step class + Hula Lesson via Skype I took my party dress to Synhchic's house for alterations & she talked me into trying the 7:15 Dance Step class, so we booked across town from 9th avenue to Kips Bay Crunch. Synchchic promised me there would be lots of sexy dancing and it wouldn't be just regular old step. Uh . . .that was a lie. It was a really challenging step class, and I've never taken one before.
Five Days Later... I can finally walk up and down the stairs again without my legs shaking and quads burning. I used to get annoyed at the people who walked slowly on the stairs to the subway but now I totally sympathize. So I went to Parkour on sunday, learned a lot and did a ton of jumping, which resulted in me being unable to walk properly this whole week.
I think I found another dance class I love! One of the many things I like about Crunch are the amounts of dance classes they offer. I've been going to hip hop, street jazz, pole dancing. But at the same time that's also my downfall. I like all of them I wish I could take it all consistently! Unfortunately I have to compromise some classes to take other classes.
Overheard, or just heard, really Not so much overheard, as reporting a conversation I was in: Me: We need to pay more attention to what is said in the gym! So we can post Overheard on Social Workout. CJ: We can't do that. Me: why? CJ: Because we're the people they're listening to. Me: Oh. Well that makes sense.
which category does parkour go under? I sat at home most of the day. Hula hooped a little. Walked to the subway. Got off at Union Square and walked to Crunch Kips Bay (32nd and 2nd) instead of switching to the 6. Todays workout was Parkour. I still could not get the lazy vault right but I'm getting so much closer. Most of the people were new today so Jay was taking it easy :(
S.H.I.T. Training... Ran over to Kips again for Parkour. Great class. Had a bitch of a time with the backwards safety vault.
... Yesterday was one of those days. It started with me burning my ear with the straightening iron, there was nothing I wanted for breakfast that didn't require cooking and I didn't want to cook. I sat at the computer to work on a monogram i'm designing for a friend's wedding invitation. I must have been staring at the screen real intently because I felt a pain in my eye, took out my lens.
Are you motherf*cking ready for the new S.H.I.T.? S.H.I.T. = Super Hero in Training. I decided that I was going to take the Parkour Revolution class at Crunch Kips Bay. So I started my workout with a run over there. After that since I was early and the first one on the list I got in a simple workout. 4 x 500m row. Inbetween sets of this is mixed in the following workouts.
on failed pull ups/dips and bruised knees I will get a pull up and dip done by the end of the challenge, but today it just wasn't happening for me. I did 3 sets and each time I couldn't get past 4 reps no matter how hard I grunted. But Parkour was awesome. Jay decided to change things up a bit today.
Paleo lunch kept me full all day! That is a rarity. After lunch I always need to snack and by the time dinner comes around I am starving. And especially Thursdays if I don't eat something before I go to Parkour I get a headache but today there was no problem. My lunch was a huge salad, lots of romaine lettuce, tomato and a really big piece of chicken breast, no dressing. It was yum! Todays workout was Parkour.
this weather is messing with my unplugged cardio seriously. I wanted to bike to Union Sq on Friday but it rained. I wanted to run this morning. It was horrible outside but I was going to go anyway. Until it started hailing and I didn't want to get out of my pjs. But I did and changed into my running clothes so that I'd be able to just go. I couldn't get myself to leave the house. Then it hailed again.
i lost my workout post i wrote a post about how pull ups make me lightheaded and i don't hold my breath so that can't be the reason. and i wrote about todays workout, but then i lost internet connection for a couple seconds and during that time my post was lost. i will not write it again. but i did work out today.
Can't forget the Masala! Went to Kips bay for Masala Bhangra with Sarina...Kips bay is a pain in the tushy to get to for everyone! can't wait till the 2nd ave (or is it 1st?) line is built!!! I was a min or 2 late but made it! Legs felt jello-like from jogging already but class was fun! Paulina Korsikova was there again!
My armpits are sore Along with the rest of my body which means I'm doing something right because I have not been this sore in months. But armpits?? They have never been sore before. I did some pushups and squats in the morning and went to Crunch earlier before parkour to practice pull ups and dips. I was in such pain from the last time I couldn't do more than 10 reps on the assisted pull up.
hows the love challenge going for you? Because I'm not really getting anywhere. Besides for maybe the Body feat because I worked out everyday. Oh, and also I got Eat, Pray, Love. The library sent me an email today that it was returned. But I haven't opened it yet. Today's workout was some walking and Parkour. But I didn't eat much before the class and halfway through I couldn't do it anymore.
I took my brother with me to Parkour And he sat out most of the class. I thought really? I'm the one who before joining Crunch last year hadn't worked out a day in my life. Just walking up the stairs to my house would get me out of breath. I guess a lot has changed since then. Last night I slept 7:37 (total 222:15). I think thats the only feat I still have to log. The others were finished already.
no patience=no results My exerspy was taking longer than usual tonight to load my info so I disconnected to retry but it said it could not retrieve the data. So I have no idea how many steps I took today or the exact amount of time I slept last night and all the other fun stuff it tells me.
