Swapping Treadmills I switched treadmills with Rolene, and there is definitely easier about her treadmill. I ran for 23 minutes, with no problems, which she struggled on my usual treadmill. 32 minutes on the 'mill, 300 calories burned. My next run with be in Canada.
Another Solo Run 35 minute run, 46 minutes on the treadmill. 5.0K (4.0K of that was running). 441 kCal burned. I was listening to my favourite "on the 'mill" podcast: Stuff Your Mom Never Told You (How Stuff Works). I love this, so someone please suggest something similar-ish!
Oh D' Hamstrings So all that yoga the other night means I can walk pretty well, but bending and climbing the starirs is a bitch. I decided to run anyway yesterday. It was hard, but I managed to squeak out 26 minutes of running. Ouf. It was hard. I listened to a podcast about obesity and tried to feel smug that any day (hopefully by Sunday) now my BMI will dip into the "overweight" category.
Early Morning Run The guy at the gym was cycling under the air conditioner, which was switched off. So I ran in the heat for 26.5 minutes. I set the incline at 2 so it went as high as 4 during the "bay run." I ran at 7 km/h.I missed my running buddy.
30 Minutes is Nothing I got a fitbit. I also lost my running buddy to an interview. And my iPod had died.
Monday Workout I ran for 23 minutes and that doesn't include a little one minute break. It got really busy at the gym but I managed to run for 23 and walk for 5 + 2.5. I did some sun salutations afterwards. Which was good because I skipped yoga today.
Truffle Shuffle I just spend 60 minutes on the treadmill (that was a 5 miute warm up, a 30 minute run and 25 more minutes) in an effort to particiate in the Truffle Shuffle 5K in Astoria tonight.* Then I went to yoga, which was 70 minutes of vinyasa/ashtanga.
Couch To 7 oz Steak Rolene came over at 10 and we went to the clubhouse. I ran for 23 minutes straight; no resting. That's alright. We'll be up to 30 minutes again before long. I went 3.6 km with our warm up and cool down included (for a total of 36 minutes). I did some saun salutations and stretch my hamstrings. Then we went to Fancy Restuarant for a filet mignon.
Another 20 Minute Run (plus 1) Rolene and I ran on Wednesday. Again I decided to walk for 1 minute after 8 minutes, but then I ran for 13 for a 21 minute run. We walked to round out a half hour.
A Cupcake I like that I can log a 10 minute session of circuit training even though I wouldn't blog a workout about it. This post is about my run today on the treadmill with Rolene. 30 minutes, 20 minutes of running, the last 2.5 minutes of which we busted it out. I ate a cupcake and feel pretty good about that. I had enough calories left.
Typical Monday I ran on the treadmill for 18 minutes (+5 minutes warm up +4 minutes cool down). It was fine. Easier to do with a crowd on the go. Then I dashed to my yoga class. Christine is trying to teach us a routine so we can practise solo. We spent a lot of time on sun salutations a + b. (90 minutes)
No Runner's High Today I jogged by myself today on the treadmill, despite being really sore from yoga the other day, and a run yesterday. I ran for 5, walked for 1 five times + five minute warm up for a total of 35 minutes of treadmill activity and 3.6 theoretical kilometers covered.
25 Minutes of Running Walked 5 minutes, ran 12 minutes, walked 1 minute, ran 13 minutes, walked 4 more minutes. Total: 3km of running (0.2 of which was sprinting) and 0.7km of walking. The gym was crowded for once and while I might have stayed longer if I were alone, I think 34 minutes is already pushing it, etiquette-wise. On the other hand, if I had no audience I might have given up earlier, too.
Will She, or Won't She? I usually run on Mondays but Rolene is in Canada so I can go anytime I want. But I am working the late shift, and tonight is the last night of Global Village so I was going to get up early and workout before work. But I forgot to tell Dave about this plan so we went to work at our usual time. But then Global Village was postponed. So I had the night free, after 6pm.
May The Force Be With You I am ashamed to admit I did a shorter workout today because of a 15 hour Star Wars marathon that I don't want to miss. I worked hard though, with the treadmill on an incline for the first time. 5 minute warm up, 5 minutes at level 2, 5 minutes at level 1, walked for 1 minute, then ran at zero incline for ten more minutes, cool down: 2 minutes. 28 minutes, 3 KM. One sweaty Jedi.
Run Of The Mill Rolene couldn't join me today so I took it easy and went on the treadmill. After a 5 minute warmup I set the treadmill at 7km/h and ran 5K. I ran non-stop for 42 minutes! Say WHAT!? That's right; I spent 47 total minutes on that thing; no breaks, no slowing down.
Help! So after a head cold and a bad run on Friday, I decided the only thing to do was to run 4.2K - the exact length of our upcoming race on Saturday, no matter how tired I got. Twenty minutes in I realized I had shin splints. What do I do? My right leg felt heavier and heavier until I realized I was doing more harm than good and stopped to let it rest for the rest of the day.
Stink Eye At The Gym, B'y I went to the gym since my partner in crime is in Las Vegas this week. I ran for only 22 minutes because I was getting the stink eye from a lady who I don't even think lives on our compound. I think 3 km is respectable for someone who still has a touch of the head cold.
