Back to School Gym Shopping

Lucy (via Lucy)

August makes me want to shop. I don't need any new sweaters, and it's not like I'm 14 and need new pants for 9th grade, but still, the scent of sales is in the air. And I'm dreaming of...gym clothes. I hate to admit to being so girly,  but nothing motivates me quite like a new gym ensemble. My first run in a cute new sports bra? It's like writing my name with sharp new pencil on a crisp, clean sheet of paper on the first day of school. Pleasure chills! And I can't wait to go to yoga when I have cute new pants. So without further ado, the current front runners for my fall collection....

Lucy is just out with their new fall line, and last season's stuff is on crazy sale. I kind of love this "Cool It Sports Bra." There's the possibility I'd get tangled up in the back straps, but to be paradoxically hot and cool at the same time -- magnificent.  These "Harmony Capris" in "dragonfly," reduced from $68.00 to $24.99 may be the pants in which I finally achieve crow pose.

I have yet to take the Lululemon plunge because when it's the choice between spending $100 on a whole month of yoga or one pair of pants, I choose yoga. But there's a sale on, and the "Raja Jacket II" is calling my name. It looks like a jacket my grandma could have made out of her 70s era couch upholstery, which is exactly why I love it. It'd make me want to snicker to myself with "orange you glad you worked out today?" jokes all the way home from the gym.  Used to be $108, now $89, a price which still makes me sweat. But I think I might have to buy it anyway.

Then there's my British favorite, Sweaty Betty. This new Fall '09 "Flaunt It Vest" with its "deep cowl back" is awesome. My heart years for this metallic top. And somewhat unschockingly, my favorite, the "Disco Leotard," is still available, now 50% off.  Maybe it's finally time...

I love this post! I too get the "Back to School Shopping" jones. Sometimes I want to buy a box of pencils because the air turned a little cooler.

But gym clothes may be more productive.

Oh, and it's not girly to work out better in better clothes, it's logical. I mean, you get a better job by being better dressed, why not a better crow pose?

Great post! I love the Lulu tops with the built in "padding" but I sure don't love the price tag. Does any other company make something similar?
