Gym Chic
Fantasy Home Gym Fetish

- Spa Bathroom (via HGTV.com)
Apparently JLo spent $50K last year putting in a fabulous new home gym. Which got me thinking -- if I had $50K and access to the top minds of the gym design community, what exactly would I do by way of home gym, and/or gym home?
I'd start by putting Olympic grade interlocking virgin rubber tiles everywhere. This gives you that deeply supportive, bouncy, non slip experience. Just saying Olympic-grade makes me feel tough. Bonus: The downstairs neighbors will never complain again! Some dance-studio-style glassless wall mirrors are also a must. According to The Barre Company, glassless walls can be mounted on rollers and are the "perfect replacement for heavy, traditional glass mirrors in environments such as gyms, schools, theaters and more...the possibilities are endless!" I'm thinking the bedroom.
Shopping for treadmills and vibrating exercise platforms makes my brain go numb. Stop with the naughty thoughts, these go in the living room, and I'd simply hire Brett Spottke, the exercise equipment expert, to handle all that for me. This leaves me to my favorite part -- the sauna/steam room/shower/spa part! On this I turn to HGTV's Candice Olson who was clearly a Roman emperor in a prior life. Witness this "Gentlemen's Club" style bathroom. Nothing says "post-workout" like a soaker tub with waterproof LCD television and remote control all done in "white and dark taupe mosaic tile." Throw in a home sauna, and I'm set.
OK, midafternoon gym fetish over. Now back to reality where my apartment is too small to fit a balance ball without turning it into the only seating in my living room.

I love this post. My husband and I were just talking about our fantasy home gym last week. I would definitely have the floor to ceiling mirrors, a ballet barre, free weights and balance ball. My husband would have floor to ceiling mirrors, free weights, treadmil, stationary bike and that one machine that can do all the arm workouts. We both agree on surround sound and flat screen tv's.
We bought a lottery ticket that night, but we didn't win.

What a great gym layout my wife and I got so many ideas from HGTV we are about to start remodeling some rooms in our home and have a really good Salt Lake City general contractor that has showed us work they've done and we are starting the project next week.
