Feat
D.I.Y. Feat
We're nothing if we're not accomodating. There must be some goal, some challenge that you would like to set for yourself, and which we can (collectively) help you accomplish. Ideally, this would have some mind-body dimension, but we're going to keep our definition broad: Your feat is legit if, by accomplishing it, you will have struck a blow for your own extreme wellness. Be sure to post your feat to the site as a "General Post," so we can all admire and encourage you. If, however, the details of your feat are private, you may simply post something like this: "D.I.Y. Feat involving my mind and body, details must remain confidential." Get it?

I have a private goal, it will involve mind/body improvement.

I'm so glad this is on here! Now I just have to choose between kicking my caffeine addiction or finally starting a consistent meditation habit.

DIY Feat: Embrace the Paste!
I am a very white person—I just got new foundation and the color is Siberia. This is no joke.
But I also love the sun and soon will have full access to it for an entire week (if the weather cooperates in Florida). I am pretty good about protecting my skin, especially my face. But every year i spend a few days (or weeks) slathering on 8 and pretending it's okay so that I can get a lttle bit of color. I fear that after what has already been a bleak, cold winter in Chicago I will go totally overbeard and ditch the 55 for Coppertone.
So my DIY Feat: Embrace the Paste.
I am Siberia and it's okay.

My DIY challenge involves staying hydrated. I find, particularly in the winter, that I occasionally get headaches that feel like hangover headaches, even when I haven't been drinking. I suspect they come from being a bit dehydrated, as I often forget to get enough water, and I consume more caffeine than I should. So, my challenge is two-fold. Part one is I can only have one cup of coffee or caffeinated tea (my caffeine sources) per day, part two is that I must drink at least 48 oz of water per day. So far, so good, and not a single headache all week.

MY DIY challenge is to workout at least 30 mins/day for 5 days a week. After one week of successfully completing my feat, I feel better about myself. It's giving me some "ME Time" again! I recently moved in with my boyfriend and the stress of it all has gotten to me. I find that I am a much happier person by working out again!!

my goal was to make it to the final round of the crossfit/strongman challenge in entered: yup!

My DIY challenge comes courtesy of msh258: go paleo for one week.
....if I don't post again for a few days, it's because I died without milk in my coffee. Also, lets pretend coffee is paleo-friendly. Please.

oooooohhhhhh exciting!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! let me know if you need advice/help/suggestions.
definitely read "the paleo diet" by loren cordain.

Thanks msh! I'll keep you posted. I'm anticipating a painful breakup with oatmeal and dairy.

When I was thinking about a DIY I wanted to do something that would be tough for me and break a bad habit or two at the same time. So, starting this week, there will be no soft drinks (diet or otherwise) and no added salt. It will be tough but I've seen what a week without sugar can do and I'm excited!

I have officially weaned myself off the snooze button! Now for a nap...
Submitted by hktexan on 02.06.10 at 05:10.
For the final week of the challenge I have decided to give up coffee. This is a huge challenge, considering I usually drink at least 2 cups a day and have a specific routine of making it and drinking it when I come to work... but here goes!

I didn't weigh myself for the duration of the challenge, which was so good for my mental health. I took rest/lowkey workout days, though my body still complains. I think more hardcore resting is in my future.
Submitted by babarbanel on 02.12.10 at 01:14.
hooray! i've been cooking from scratch at least once every week. i'm becoming a new lady!
Submitted by twinklefee on 02.12.10 at 01:15.
Hurray! I'm down to one caffeinated beverage per day (used to be 2, sometimes 3 on a really long day), and I've been getting plenty of water. The water part helped with the Stand Up feat as well, since I would get up to get water every time my little Outlook alarm came on to remind me to get up and walk around. This has definitely helped with headaches, though I wish there were some way to hydrate my super-dry winter skin from the inside. The water-drinking didn't have any effect on that, alas. I'm totally going to keep it up anyway, though.
Submitted by neversent on 02.12.10 at 03:54.
I just read everyone's posts, and a) I am so impressed with everyone for being so creative with their D.I.Y., and b) I am so proud of everyone for completing them! WOO HOO!!!! As for mine, it is also in 2 parts:
1) I went to church every Sunday during the challenge. I really should keep this up, because religion aside, its a wonderful time to think and be quiet and pray / meditate.
2) I only had hot chocolate 5 times during the challenge. Considering pre-challenge I had a venti probably 5 times a week (or more), and my goal was just to cut down to 2 times a week, I am very, very proud of myself. As for the future of this one - not sure yet. I should probably keep it up though...
