Feat
7.) Pull Ups
Pull ups are hard, and they're relative. Some people can knock of 20, while others can't do a single one. Different people have different baselines. To accomodate that truth, this feat is also relative. Over the course of the challenge, you must rack up 20 sets of your baseline pull up count. The first step here, then, is to find a pull up bar and do as many pull ups as you can do in one set. That's your baseline. You must now do 19 more sets of the same number of pull ups before the end of the month. If your baseline is zero, your goal is to achieve one unassisted pull up by the end of the month. You can practice for this big day by working with an assisted pull up bar, and/or by starting with your chin over the bar (get someone to help you up), and then doing "negative pull ups," i.e. slowly lower yourself down.

This one sucks. In Crossfit, I have to use the thick, giant rubber band because I can't do one unassisted (Without jumping). I KNOW by the end of this month and the dedication I will have with CF, I will be able to knock out a few unassisted.
Yesterday I did 150 total pullups...but all with the band.

Don't forget: the less you weigh, the easier they get!

So if we can't do a single one, can we tick this off after we try 20 times and achieve one? This is starting to stress me out already..

so I'm really small, and my baseline is definitely a fraction of a pullup...this will be interesting

Yup--sure CAN'T do even one whole pull up. But I have been working on my "negative pull-ups"--we call 'em Circus Pull-ups around my house. So I am starting with my standard 5 of those.

The picture is somebody doing a chin-up. Hope that's not misleading for anybody. Pull-ups are palms facing away from you, less biceps, more back.

Please say that every crushing practice session I do to achieve counts as one of my twenty sets to achieve this feat...

I got carried away adding to my 1000 feats, I accidentally added 11 sets of pull-ups. I'm still only at 6 sets of practice pull-ups.

Since I have never ever been able to do a pullup, and I don't think I every will, my goal will be to do assisted pullups (and dips) at least 20 times during the challenge. I may be able to accomplish one dip by the end.
