Feat
4.) Cardio, Unplugged
Run, dance, swim, cycle, jump rope, climb, do donkey kicks! To complete this feat, you must elevate your heart rate and exercise your lungs for at least five (5) hours in March. Easy right? Here's the catch: There can be no machines involved: No treadmills, ellipticals, ergs, or stationary bikes. Let's be clear, you can still use those machines, but time spent with them does not count towards this feat. See? Five of your precious cardio hours must be au natural! And here's the kicker, at least 30 of those 300 minutes must be sprints.

omg, they can't make me run AND take away the music can they?????

I'm assuming from the first sentence that a non-stationary bicycle is not considered a "machine"? That is, we can use machines so long as they are not sitting still in a gym or a corner of our apartment?

uh oh, i put in "30" for 30 minutes but i think i was supposed to put it in by hours, so now i'm showing feat accompli even though i should only be at 10%...

i did not run for 43 hours this morning, only 43 minutes! tell me, sw, how are we supposed to clock our cardio minutes?

I really hope the weather stays as nice as it has been - it will make this feat so much more pleasurable.

I tried to use the minute tracker and it feat acommpli'ed me. I have not finished this yet :)

So, what is a sprint? Does that mean running fast? (Oy i'm such a novice)
Submitted by kornflowers on 03.02.10 at 12:04.
I too have fallen into the trap of putting minutes instead of hours - oops. I'm really only at 10% complete. I did do a minute of sprinting though...

so what is the unit of measure here - I put in 30 for 30 minutes and it gave me a check - was I supposed to enter this in hours????

Does taking an aerobic class count? No machines or weights are used but you are led through the exercises.
Submitted by mindy b on 03.04.10 at 12:34.
use decimals! 30 minutes = 0.5 hours.
Submitted by jan1965 on 03.04.10 at 12:35.
It won't take anything less than full hours. Not a huge deal, but it would be nice if it would take .5 as most of my workouts are 30 mins.

Awesome...I'm at 160 hours now.

Same here :( Except I did "60" minutes . . . and now I'm all messed up :/

I'm assuming pilates machines...which run based on your own power...are ok?

Have we gotten a good definition of "sprints" yet? I played an hour of racquetball yesterday which pretty much just involves sprinting all over the court after a tiny rubber ball. I'd like to count it (because then I can hit feat accompli on this challenge), but I want to be sure.
Ah vagueness, you are not my friend.
