awesome instructor! Ayana is amazing. Honestly, I could leave it at that, but for those of you who want to hear more, here goes: First off, the music in this class is fantastic - a mix of old and new hip hop / r & b. It's definitely very rhythm-oriented, which makes it pretty easy to understand how you should be biking at any moment.
ayayayayayayayaya-na Yes, I went to her class at lunch. Yes, it was amazing as always. Yes, I was very sweaty after. Yes, I sweat from my shins and wrists. Yes, that was just for Sass. Yes, I love her long time. Yes, I mean both Sass and Ayana. Naughty Flog: chocolate nut chew (raw & vegan) from Lifethyme - not really bad in terms of ingrediatens, except that it was my dinner.
week from hell: workout #2 Yes! Another work out done despite it being hell-week and all! I was able to take my lunch break to coincide with Ayana's spin. Honestly, the fact that I was able to break up my day that way was the only thing that kept me sane through my 13+ hour work day yesterday.
Quick Spin For the first time in weeks I made it out of work in time for the 5:45 spin class. I was so excited! I hadn't been able to spin with Ayana since August (literally) and today I really needed it. I've been feeling frazzled and a bit battered and was really looking forward to the opportunity to rock out and sweat to the not-so-oldies in that perfect energy-pumping, fun-filled, gr
reclaiming my sanity in 105 minutes Ayana followed by Trainer Mike saved my sanity today. Thank god for them. They kicked my ass. And, I really have nothing else to say about that today. Feats Update: Unsweetened: 7/7 --- FEAT ACCOMPLI SW-e-AT: 9/10 --- Personal Chef: 4/10 --- i tend to cook once and then eat that food all week long. hmmm...who knew?!
biking through the sw-e-at & an introspection Yesterday's workout started with a 15 minute warm-up on the treadmill (highest incline; walk, then short run) and then did 10 x 10 push-ups to work those pecs (the real kind!!!). Then, Ayana's ride. OMG, how I missed it. The cave was just brimming with energy.
CAVEMEN Sweat! Grunt! Sing! Swagga! Back to the cave to spin. Oh momma I love it! Sing baby Sing! Sweat baby sweat. uh yeah. uh uh. dig dig. yeah get yo swagga on. sweat momma sweat. Papi in row three, you can rock with me. drip down to the ground. bounce. bounce. now isolate it real good. keep straight. ride that rhythm. let the mirrors fog. let the mirrors fog! then i stretched and did abs. sopping wet. yummy.
spun out. Oh, Ayana, once again you made my day. It's been weeks since I've been to Ayana's ride but, finally, I'm back! She'd changed up the play list and it was just as good as ever - definitely feeling Sass' sentiment on the music. And, yes, I was sweating from my shins as well... Before class I also did a quick 10 minutes on the stairmill and another 5 row-ho-ing it up.
i have a crush on someone in spinning class i didn't see his face...so that could change everything....but he had excellent form from behind and spun faster than any other mofo i've seen in awhile. i thought...this is a dude that could motivate me. he could maybe handle the sassletic in me. sweaty backs are lovely during lunch hour.
I Should Sleep Well Tonight! - #38 I'm tired. Really, really tired. I've noticed that after Jess's hot yoga class, I think I'm going to sleep really well, but unfortunately, two weeks running that dream has crashed and burned. Last week was particularly rough without the coffee, today I managed with the help of my friend caffeine. Still, after 15 minutes on the elliptical + 43.5 minutes of Ayana's spin class (oops!
15 mins stairs / ayana's spin = happy, tired me 'nuff said :-) Today I ate: 7:00am Greek and plain yogurt mixed with a plum, a kiwi, a little kashi cereal and a tbs of peanut butter (because I have a problem) 10:00am 2 steamed mini pork buns and greens (uhm...yea...I guess I was already ready for lunch?) 1 nectarine 1:00pm granola bar from the Farmer's market (Hawthorne Valley Farms Krunch Bar: sesame and sunflower seeds, cashews, tahini
Welcome to the Ass Kicking Party - #33 Continuing my intro 2 weeks at Crunch, I followed msh's advice and tried out Ayana's spin class last night. I like spinning. I've gone through obsessive periods with spinning followed by year long droughts. I enjoy having someone kick my ass only to find that by the end I'm drenched in sweat and feeling like I can do anything because, clearly, I've just narrowly escaped death.
still takin' it easy...and i think it's driving me nuts Today I kept it really simple at the gym and I'm a little sad about it. I did 15 minutes of incline walking on the treadmill and then Ayana's spin class, which was great, of course. And then...I left. HMPH. This doesn't feel like working out to me anymore. Funny how an hour of cardio is now just barely worthy of a "workout" post.
Stop Texting and Do Your Job! Just another trip to the gym and I was doing my/half stolen from Mr. Mohawk’s core workout before spin class. There was a woman nearby doing situps on the incline bench with her personal trainer. But he wasn’t paying attention to her AT ALL and just typing away on his cell phone!
ouch ouch ouch - working away the sore... I had a pretty decent workout last night. Started, as usual with a 15-minute warm-up on the treadmill and then proceeded to Ayana's spin class. She was awesome as always and I looked like was coming out of a shower after class, not a workout. Anyways, my friend had joined me (hot, single Brazilian chick...yes, Mohawk, she's coming to the bash next Thursday) and we decided to do abs afterward.
A Most Excellent Gym Experience Union Square for Ayana’s spin class with some other SW regulars. While I’m searching through my bag for my keys I notice someone on crutches out of the corner of my eye and I think, who the heck comes to the gym on crutches?
trainer mike tried to kill me. then, i went to the SW orgy in the cave. Trainer Mike likes to punish me. After every weekend. Let's be realistic here...I have a social life (yes, Mohawk, I do. ASS). So, you go out and a lot of times you have drinks. It's just how it is and I don't anticipate that getting any better in the coming weeks and months.
Hallelujah!!! I think when I laid eyes upon you yesterday, the heavens opened and the sunlight penetrated to the basement of Crunch Union Square and shone right on you. Ayana: you're back!!! I can't even describe the joy and excitement and enthusiasm that came over me for my workout!
Can't Stop Singing Made it to Union Sq on Monday for Ayana's spin class. She said her throat was hurting a lot so she wouldn't be talking or singing much during class. Everyone was pretty sad to hear that there would be no impromptu concert that day. But I guess even a sore throat can't stop her and at the end of class she still belted out a chorus or two.
