I paid for walking out Jess found out I walked out on Taj at Buff Yoga last week (actually I told him, because he asked how it went). So he made me work extra hard today. And today wasn't an easy class to begin with. Although we did have extra breaks because there were a lot of new people. I was shaking the entire class.
The only thing buff about buff yoga today was the pushups There was a sub today. She made us do like 40. It was a very disappointing class. Before class she asked what kind of things Jess normally does. Mario showed her some exercises. She was planning on using the weights, not just turning it into a regular yoga class (like so many of the subs do), so I figured I would give her a shot.
Stepped away from the computer After yesterday's long day ending disappointingly without a workout, today I took some time for myself. Got to the gym early (thought I had to be an hour early to sign up for TRX. Not necessary today. There were like 5 extra spots). Ran a bit, because I need to, now that I signed up for a race. TRX was great.
Tweeting while Ellipticalling makes me do impulsive things Like registering for races...I was checking my twitter and saw NYRR tweeted they opened all their races until the end of the year. So I signed up for the 5M Marathon Kickoff on October 31 (I'm telling you all now so you can put it in your calendars to come cheer for me. Or run with me?).
worst spot in the room I was running a bit late to Buff Yoga today. I came in just as Jess was starting, but the room was full and my regular spot was taken. I had to go to the back. I always thought I would like the back because then Jess wouldn't call me out and I could take a break when I needed, but I hated it.
Yoga through the pain Not gonna lie, this sunburn really hurts. It's all across my shoulders and down my back and some arm. I never, ever burn. Until now. Any slight movement that involves my back is painful. But still I went to Buff Yoga. I thought how bad could it be. For the most part it was ok. Until we got on to floor. My back against the mat was not happening.
Real Jobs with Real Deadlines are Stressful After a year and a half of unemployment (and passively looking for a job), two jobs literally fell into my lap in the last three weeks. The first was when I went out with a friend who brought her friend who discovered I was a graphic designer after overhearing my conversation with someone else (still following?). She herself is a graphic designer and was looking for someone to help her out.
Soon I will be Buffer than Buff Yoga I took Jess' Buff Yoga class yesterday to kick off the "New Year," as it were. Jess is indeed Yummy and delcious. I struggled mightily through the core exercises.
In the DANGER ZONE Krystal told me that's where I'm at right now. I was having trouble throughout the entire session today. Truth is, in the last two weeks I did not work out as much as I normally do. Partly because I stopped running outdoors due to the heat, and every time I get on the treadmill I get right off. Also because it's Summer.
The heat makes me do weird things. Like eat ice cream. Seriously, I don't like ice cream (along with chocolate, and anything that has peanuts in it). I know it's not normal, but thats me. I got home from the gym today, sweating just walking from the subway (possibly just from being in the subway station), saw ice cream in the fridge, and finished it off! Then had lunch.
When did I get so strong? Part of today's PT session was reverse pull ups. Normally Krystal stands behind me and gently pushes me up. Today she didn't. And I pumped out 10 before I felt I couldn't anymore and still she made me do 2 more. And the whole set again.
Brooklyn's not ready for Parkour Really. Jay scares them all away. Every week is a completely new group of people. It's a little frustrating for me because it means we don't advance much each week.
I went running today Yup! In the ridiculous heat. Prospect Park was mostly empty, except for a few other crazies. A lady called me a trooper. Krystal said I was crazy for taking a week off running then choosing the hottest day to get back into it.
nothing to say I did work out today. But nothing exciting happened.
I opted for indoors I reserved a spot for Yoga in Times Square today, but it was too hot. Instead I went to Crunch Union Square for Buff Yoga. From there I went to SW HQ to prepare for tomorrows Y@GL! And got a glimpse at SW 2.0! Really cool stuff happening...
Parkour Basics If any of you were too intimidated to try Parkour, or tried it and decided it was too advanced, the new class at Fort Greene is perfect. I took it today. The room is so much smaller than Kips Bay and Jay had us do the QM's, plank walks, and all that, the length of the room (I was afraid he would do the width but he was being really easy).
workout Krystal killed me today. Wide pull ups, squat thrusts with pushup, planks with gliders. Everything I hate but in the long run is good for me (why do i always hate the good things?) It was a good session-even though I complained the whole way through. (Krystal never gives in to my complaints) But when I got to Buff Yoga I was so drained I had trouble keeping up.
No torture today I came to TRX prepared for it, but Marc didn't show up. Brooke was there instead and the class was fairly simple. Buff Yoga was next, and that was hard because of all the soreness from yesterday's PT session. Running tonight (i think it's the last class).
Taking the stairs The ones at the 59th St station coming up from the 4/5 train. Those stairs. Looking up at them, they are daunting. Alongside the escalator. The escalators only go up so if you need to get the 4/5 train you have to take the stairs (unless you're going downtown. then you can just take the 6 two stops and catch the 4/5 across the platform).
So I ran This morning I made it to the gym with just enough seconds to squeeze into the last spot in Jess' yoga class. But I had to take it easy because my stomach was acting up. Not so fun. I went home, lay down, and considered skipping tonight's running class.
