First Boot camp tonight I am attending my first bootcamp session on the BB and am quite nervous. I am a regular at the indoor gyms, but never workout outside. (and have rather weak ankles.)Wish me luck!
Glutes with a View Ariane Hundt got the idea for the Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp while riding the subway one day. She was staring at an ad for the NYC condom campaign which featured the Brooklyn Bridge. I guess when I think condoms, I think exercise too, just not the lunging, running, wanting to throw up your liver kind. When I emailed to reserve a spot on the bridge, Ariane wrote back that she couldn’t wait to “kick my ass.” I won’t sue for false advertising. Consider my ass sufficiently kicked. I am a gym rat, and generally prefer my exercise to happen in a sterile, air-conditioned, TV-laden environment, so a class that consists of running over outdoor bridge (2.26 miles) while doing lunges, squats, stair drills, resistance bands, ab work, and push-ups -- with an audience of pedestrians -- was a little outside my comfort zone. But, other than hating it, I loved it....
Two days of having my ass kicked, once by me and once by Ariane... Tonight I went to a Brooklyn Bridge Boot camp indoor class, it turned out to be the last class of one of the "Slim and Strong" sessions. Since it was the end session it was REALLY hard. Sweaty and intense but amazing and motivating too. Ariane ended with going through the room to talk about what everyone learned - it was nice to hear since I think it is really a great program.
BBB: A "puke-worthy" workout indeed Well + Good hosted a free Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp workout last night. Those of you who have done this workout before or regularly do it know what the deal is. It's HARD. But it's good and Ariane is a great motivator. As was pointed out by a passer-by, "she doesn't cut you no slack!". No ma'am she does not.
my workout in numbers. 1 tough German Lady with 1 impromptu offer for an unplanned double boot camp session upon spotting me 3 towers along the bridge to do push-ups, planks, squats, lunges, squat jumps, bicep curls, shoulder presses, upward rows, one-legged squats, plie squats, wall-sits, donkey-kicks, etc.
Saturday's boot camp was not supposed to be my only workout this weekend.... but it was the world cup, so really what could you expect! Yesterday I got up early and went to Brooklyn Bridge Boot camp, which was of course awesome. I came home, showered and got ready to go watch the World Cup USA v. England game. A wild good time ensued, of course, since I am really a soccer hooligan fan. Oh vey.
carb flu. Last night's workout involved an about 2 mile run (Union Square area to the Brooklyn Bridge), Ariane's H.s Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp, and then the same 2-mile walk back. I had no energy and the combination of all that activity exhausted me to the point where I was extremely irritable (sorry, killercadoogan).
When you almost barf, but you still only rate the workout an 8... Ariane at the Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp kicked my ass yesterday. I thought briefly that I would barf but in the end when she asked where we were on a scale of 1 (sitting on the couch) to 10 (an ambulance was needed) I rated mine an 8. Most people said 9. Here is my scale: 7 -didn't try hard enough 8 - almost barfed but didn't 9 - barfed but finished anyways
and then she took us under the bridge. Oh, Ariane, how I missed your donkey-kicks! Today was the first time I did the Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp in awesome weather and it was absolutely fantastic! It was also great to have Twinklefee there! Yay for SOCIAL workouts! Bootcamp was killer...apparently we did 300 push-ups.
Bootcamp What?! Outstanding. I joined msh258 today for Ariane's Brooklyn Bridge Bootcamp and it was so excellent. We walked from work to the bridge (I think she said it was about 2 miles), followed by an ass kicking that really was inspired, and then walked back to the office. All in all, 135 minutes toward MMM and a seriously good workout to boot.
tourist frogger. On Saturday morning I went to my first true Brooklyn Bridge bootcamp class with Ariane H. (since previously I'd only done the indoor classes and one Central Park class). Killercadoogan and I ran over to the Manhattan side of the bridge (me taking my Vibrams for a first run outside!), where he dropped me off.
Don't hump the band My favorite phrase from Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp today. It was a good - not great - class though because my foot hurt badly and damn it was COLD up there today...
a million tourists and running on the Brooklyn Bridge. Went to the Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp last night and since it was such an amazing night pretty much it seemed like every tourist in the city decided that the Bridge was where they should be too.
Back on the bridge. While running isn't my favorite thing, the running today during Brooklyn Bridge Boot camp was amazing. I felt strong, powerful and blessed to be able to see that view and be were I was. My ass was kicked but at the end of the class I left totally blissful. Does it get better then that?
Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp Tonight kicked ass and was the last indoor class.YAY! I can't wait to be on the bridge this Saturday!!!
Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp the gimpy version I went to my always favorite Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp class last night even though my foot is messed up because I don't get to go on Saturday. It was a great class but by the end my foot hurt so badly I limped home. Today my foot feels a little better which is good... I am glad I went last night, I needed the great workout to steel myself for the rest of the week.
A Hot Mess Oh yeah, this morning before Bootcamp, I felt like death and my knee hurt. After realizing that I would waste the class if I cancelled out - and I am far too cheap to waste a class- I hauled my ass out of bed to get it kicked. Totally worth it, by the end I felt better and my knee didn't hurt anymore.... nice how a good work out can make everything better.
I WENT to the yoga studio, but left before the class started because Ariane kicked my ass. In my house, Tuesday was referred to as Tough Tuesday because after last weeks success at going to both Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp AND Sadie's yoga class, I was planning on doubling up again.
Rockin workout Today's Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp class was AWESOME of course.
The hard workout for the body and fierce workout for the soul So what do you do when your two favorite teachers both teach on the same night? Last night instead of choosing, I decided on taking both. Mind you both classes normally kick my ass separately and I am not a 100% what inspired the idea that sticking together wouldn't almost kill me but it turned out to be awesome. 1st class: Brooklyn Bridge Boot Camp with Ariane
